This movie has the makings of being something truly fun and amazing and I am beyond excited. Still lots to speculate on....I feel Dr. Strange has something wrong with him/isn't the current MCU Dr. Strange at times. Just a feeling.

But hey...how come we all aren't overanalyzing the truest MCU hint revealing technique which is.....LICENSE PLATES! As seen from the trailer...

Now...is this ASM 8183 or is it ASM B183? To me, if looks like a B. It could also be more sneaky trailer editing and the actual license plate could be 3183, but someone digitally added the line on the first 3 to make it look like a B or an 8

Anyways, let's run with B183 first. ASM 183 is this issue...

...in which we see Rocket Racer and the birth and death of Big Wheel. Side story features Aunt May ill and Spidey's appearance causes her to become shocked and even more sick. A deep hint at an Aunt May demise in the film? Ehhhhhh I dunno. I also would laugh if either Big Wheel or Rocket Racer appeared (although Rocket Racer is fun!). But then what is the B for in the license plate? I mean, Rocket Racer and Big Wheel are not even B level characters...more D tier really.

Okay well...what if we ignore the B at the front and the 3 at the end in the license plate. Then you get ASM 18, which is this issue

...now this makes a bit more sense to further develop as possible future story arc. I am going to guess that somewhere along the way, we see Ned Leeds in the MCU take a dark turn. Maybe jealousy arises throughout this film and perhaps meeting the Green Goblin sets him on a path and a desire to become the Hobgoblin in a future flick. This is Ned's first appearance but we've seen Ned for a while now...so why hint at it on a license plate? Welllll let's view the 183 as a mash up. ASM 18 for Ned's first appearance and then seeing 83 in the plate as a nod to the year Hobgoblin was created. Mash them together and you have the creators getting sneaky with their license plate clues (before they always just listed the issue number of a character/villain appearance). But again, you may ask "well if it is a B what does THAT mean?"

New York plates (to my knowledge) have three letters (so ASM makes sense) and then 4 numbers (meaning B183 would not make sense)

So maybe it is not a "B" and is actually 8183. Let's work with this. The number "18", representing Ned Leeds' first appearance, sandwiched between "83" for the year Hobby appeared would make much more sense and still be somewhat sneaky. This is my theory but let's entertain some others.

 

1. If the plate reads 8183, it could be a nod to ASM 17 (legacy numbered issue #818) which is Part 1 of Kraven's Hunted story arc from 2019. I don't know much about this arc at all or if it could tie in but mayyybbbeee the plate hints at him as an unseen (to this point) member of this sinister six team?

2. What if ASM is not a reference to ASM but rather PPTSS issue 183 which is this one

...a great little arc with Gobby and Vermin. Again, don't see how this could tie in exactly. 

3. There is also PPTSS issue 81 which came out in 83, as seen below

...a story featuring Cloak and Dagger, Punisher and Kingpin. I mean, would be a very stretch far off nod to Kingpin as I doubt it would relate to Punisher or C&D

4. The ASM issue that came out 8/1/83 to the newsstands was ASM #246

...an issue where I believe the Watcher appeared? And Black Cat....so yeah...a tough stretch. But what about the issue cover dated 8/1/1983? That would be this one

 

...which is most known for being the return of MJ after some time away. But MJ has been firmly in the MCU and in Spidey's life so....doesn't make much sense.

5. It is possible they made the 8 at the start of the license plate look like an 8 or a B with some editing...when REALLY it is a 3. Which could reference ASM 318

...a Scorpion appearance. So maybe a deep hint they wanted to hide in the trailer about Scorpion coming into the MCU? Again, a fair stretch to say they would change a license plate in a trailer to hide a later appearance of a classic villain AND add a 3 at the end of the number to really throw ya off. 

6. Finally, what is ASM 8183 is reference two issues...ASM 81 and 83

...the first appearances of Kangaroo and Schemer! The next two big baddies in the MCU and the ones behind it all! Who knew!!?!?!?

See people think it could be Franco but Franco to my knowledge only flew around on that weird surfboard type glider. Plus he never had a hood. Now could Marvel change this because that previous design was silly? Sure.

No I think we are actually looking at Ned who, perhaps after the Green Goblin has been sent back to whatever universe (or capture) dons his own costume to try and help continue to round up villains because he is sick of just being plain old New. This leads to tension and issues with Peter and perhaps Neds eventual transition into Hobby, in which he could play a role as villain and team up with Kingpin and cause all sorts of trouble for Parker in future flicks.

I don't see the need or want for more than this. Maybe there is another repercussion from this film that Strange deals with in his own flick. That's not asking too much is it?

EDIT: Nevermind this poster is accurate. I also think a death will occur in this film (Happy????? Aunt May??????)

In adding that I think someone dies, the trailer seems to suggest MJ which I think is a farce. I think they are simply paying homage to the classic moment but do not intend to kill MJ. If they do, I will view that as a poor choice for the franchise.

Yeah MJ ain't going to die, it just feels like a fake out. At this point I would sooner expect her to armour up and join in the fight rather than be subject to an unoriginal call-back death.

I feel as if Strange reveals that in all of the other dimensions that all Spider-villains die and that those timelines must be preserved.  Peter doesn't want people to die because, (as we saw in the comics) "nobody dies".  

Strange fights Peter to preserve the timelines and while Doc Ock might actually team up and help Peter as Peter continues to look for a mentor in his life with the absence of Stark, this comes back to haunt Peter somehow and the Goblin strikes.

I like it. 

This movie might have too much but in the best way. I hope anyways. Or it could just be too much but the fan service will make us fat and happy so we will love it regardless.

That would be a cool, but I think you give these writers way too much credit.

This "scene" is getting up there with killing Uncle Ben.  Plus which I think Zendaya is a box office draw for the younger crowd, so she's probably not going to be written out.  Hopefully this movie will introduce Gwen into the TH series as the tension/interplay between MJ and Gwen was one of the Silver Age drivers.

I have a feeling they may even have Andrew Garfield swing in to save her in the end to undo the painful experience he went through in his own universe.
