Vengeance of Vampirella #1...actual Royal Blue...?

Yes, the Vengeance #25 was the 3rd one issued and it was considerably harder to find than the others, minus the Vengeance #1 and the #0. The two with Joseph Michael Linsner covers were hard to find at first, but more and more of them began popping up as his collectability dropped off some over the years.

Funny thing about the #0 pictured above. I couldn't find my scan from when I sold it on eBay, so I Googled it and found the MCS eBay listing. I don't remember exactly when I sold it or how much I sold it for, but it's probably been five years. My buyer immediately consigned it to MCS at several times my BIN price, and I see now that it still hasn't sold. I remember feeling bad that I had graded it at 9.0 and MCS called it an 8.5. It's down to somewhere around double what I sold it for now.

There was a Royal Blue Vengeance of Vampirella #1 CGC 9.6 that ended last night on eBay. From the pics it appears to be legit. When I look up the registry number on the CGC website, the comments are as follows: Green foil wraparound cover. Obviously, it doesn’t say this on the actual label and the book itself was graded on 2/3/22.

The Royal Blues still don’t show up on the census. Are we to assume that CGC will no longer identify this variant? Has anyone seen official word on this anywhere?

Hey @CGC Mike, could you possibly ask the graders about this? The 9.6 is 3942754013 and a 9.4 that just went up on eBay is 3748004001. Both of these seem to be obvious Royal Blue covers but now they’re labeled as Green. Thanks!

Sure!  I'll send them a note.

Any word on this @CGC Mike? The Blues still aren't acknowledged the last time I checked the census with everything marked as Green. Thanks!

Hi

Sorry this is taking so long for an answer.  I bumped the e-mail that was sent to the team.  I hope to have something for you soon.

This is what I was told:

the one pictured is a Blue Foil Edition Vampirella #1, but that particular copy didn't have the foil added to the cover so we had to qualify it. The other two numbers provided are Vengeance of Vampirella #1, a totally different book that only has a green foil cover.

Both books are Vengeance of Vampirella #1, and neither have the common green cover. The legend goes that 100 of the royal blue VoV #1s were made before the multitude of greens were. I don’t know what they looked at but it wasn’t the links above. Please ask again if you could. Thanks Mike!

Thanks for the images.  I did send them to the team.  The person who made the comment now realized he was mistaken due to getting the images mixed up.  I am waiting for one more person to chime in.
