I think it will be another origin story since the Joker remembers his "one bad day" differently all the time. Multiple choice. That's the direction I think they might take.

Dunno how anyone attributes Joker to that movie, other than it was the title.

Leif Phoenix is totally reminding me of Shae LeBofe with his attitude.

Both of those actors have ability and I’ll watch them but I wouldn’t care to ever have a beer with those douchebags. Sean Penn is another.

I’ll watch it but do we really need a sequel? That film will probably age better as a stand-alone.

Absolutely.

Why do a sequel to a great film - usually they ain't too good.

Aliens is the only one that springs to mind, possibly Terminator 2.

On the other hand - Blues Brothers 2000 and Grease 2.

Do another character and make a series.

Jonathan Crane would be epic.

On the other hand - The list is endless. Notable for me - Escape from LA. I would rather have seen one of my all time favorite movies Escape from NY go down like E.T. But thats the John Carpenter curse. As soon as the 80’s decade was over, so was he.

You lost me right there. Are you kidding? Possibly?

:baiting:

One of the clearest examples where the sequel surpassed the original film.

I’m still torn on Joker. I feel like its an injustice to Scorsese since its just Todd Phillips making a movie the way he envisions Scorsese would have done it. It’s a Scorsese fan film.

Kind of. Kind of not.

Just like in comic books where other works can influence a modern story, Todd Phillips rolled together Alan Moore's The Killing Joke, Scorsese's King of Comedy and Taxi Driver, and Paul Leni's The Man Who Laughs. Phillips noted he was trying to honor the 70's and 80's and how this influences his appreciation of movies from that period. Leading to his even using the old WB Studios logo at the start of the movie.

So more a fan of the period and the influences that came from that time.

It really is painful with that one. John Carpenter purposely sabotaged the success of his own film in order to make a statement about Hollywood. And he worked with Kurt Russell to do it too.
