While we're on the topic, someone should really buy this, a 7.0 for $5k?

Still shocked no one has bought this yet.

Anyway, this 8.5 Cerebus 1 is at 7500 with 2 days left.

I've only been watching 1st prints.  What are 2nd and 3rd prints going for?

2nd print 9.6 is $8k, 3rd is $2.5k.

There are just 663 CGC copies of the 2nd, while there are 1677 copies of the 3rd. (Over 1k copies of the 1st).

So yeah the 2nd print seems to be the toughest printing to get, comparitively.

If I had to guess, the selling venue may be part of it. CC is not known for this type of book, so buyers may not be aware of it?

That's true on both counts.  Insane deal if someone is looking for one

If I recall the print runs are

3,000 (or 3250)

6,000

35,000

The first gets submitted a lot due to value.

The third doesn't get submitted as much as a % of print run due to lack of value, but there's so many of them that there's still more of them on the census.

One other defect that's always been noted with Cerebus #1's is "smudging" of the blacks on the cover.  Typically that is most pronounced around the horns on the helmet as it is with the copy shown here.  How much does that figure into the valuation of a copy?  Should a copy without smudging be worth more than a copy with smudging?  I'm doubting that CGC is accounting for that when they do the grading of the books.

It's hard to say; not enough sales data.

Hmm I'm trying to see what you are talking about but I'm guessing it's the smudges along the edge?

What caused them? The reader?

No, this is a printing issue.  The two copies currently on eBay offer a good example of the smudging:

1) This one is a "clean" copy - https://www.ebay.com/itm/185257334560?hash=item2b22329720:g:ktYAAOSwZe5h2697

2) This one is a "smudged" copy - https://www.ebay.com/itm/275185324104?hash=item401252d048:g:bhEAAOSwQ9ViGrdj notice the darker blacks around the right horn of Cerebus' helmet and on the shield.

Overall the detail of the blacks on "smudged" copies isn't as good.  I'm not sure what % of copies have the smudging and you see it to various degrees on different books, but I believe the "clean" copies are more desirable.  I believe this was isolated to the covers and not the interiors.

nice,I never knew that.  That's good to  know.  I see the difference now.  I thought this was going to be different like the light and dark greens on X-men 1, but the clean version  looks more preferable.
