Popular Post Scrooge
Ran my tally for the year (I don't expect to have time to read much tomorrow): Single issue American comics: 560 comics Manga volumes: 152 [@ 7 each = 1,064 comics] European Comic Albums: 79 [@ 2 each = 158 comics] Miscellaneous collections: 99 comics equivalent So, by unique count: 890 / by page count: 1,881 In 2017, I had 1,852 and in 2018, I had 1,939 so I am about on par with my previous counts [Don't think I tallied 2019 and in 2015 I had over 3,000 which was abnormal]. I am surprised since work under COVID conditions knocked me out of reading during September to November pretty much but I still managed to keep pace. Looking forward to the 2021 challenge! I started with issue 1 and bought every issue and the TPBs. I liked the way it ended. My son gave me the first Compendium for Christmas a few years back, so I've read the first 48 issues. Have to say, it just didn't grab me, didn't see much in the way of "new" in the whole zombie arena. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but just never felt compelled to go out and get the rest. ttfitz
Last update: Klaus and the Crying Snowman Finished the Klaus books. Found it kinda interesting how the miniseries was more a straightforward "origin of Santa" sort of thing, while the one-shots were just goofy, silly fun. Think I liked the goofy ones best, but still all in all a good set of books. Avengers 63-88, 98-114, 119-124, 126-128 Giant Size Avengers 1 (double size) Hulk 14 Daredevil 99 Continued on with this one, late Silver to Bronze. Some good Roy Thomas work in this bunch - included a couple stories that crossed over from the Avengers storylines. Holes in the run were due to earlier storylines being read earlier this year - Kree/Skull War, Defenders/Avengers battle/crossover, Celestial Madonna. Fantastic Four 133-150 More continuation. Gerry Conway, did some good work. Sons of Anarchy 1-25 Watched the show and really loved it (although I have to admit I was a couple seasons in before I had any idea who this "Sam Crow" fellow was), finally got around to the series. Did a good job capturing the feel of the characters and the story. Recommended for fans of the show. So, let's see, 900 coming into this one. Hmmm, 0, carry the 2, .... BOOM, 1000! Woooooo! See you in 2021! Edited January 1, 2021 by ttfitz Sam Crow, doncha know. Scrooge, Talapas1, Ken Aldred and 1 other

srezvan
My grand total for 2020: 288 comics. A respectable number for me and much higher than prior years. Last two issues for this year were from the ongoing AoA storyline. To my surprise, my Weapon X #3 has a cutout! I think I remember that Kool Aid ad and I have no doubt that a very young me eagerly sent in my $1.80 for 3 comics, which was a great deal. When I got to that page my daughter laughed uncontrollably that I am so particular about my comics but I would still cut a hole in one of them. Talapas1
1477-1510 Huge batch of subs and some other series that I picked up for cheap. Sam Keith’s Batman is always a favorite and this story was another tale of Joker pretending to go straight to show Batman as a psychotic Villain. Had a Harleyesque villain who was a bit less loony toony. Pathfinder Worldscape. My expectations were low but it was actually pretty fun. A few parts Pulp Fantasy/action mixed into some Planet Hulk-like setting. I wasn’t familiar with Pathfinder, but the characters were easy to follow and it was a pretty fun read. What if Avengers were thrills of Korvac? One of the comics I really remember as a kid was the Korvac Saga in the first 90’s Guardians of the Galaxy Annual. I’ve been interested in the character but not enough to search out other appearances. After reading this though, I may get the original story run. Taarna. Ever since I saw Heavy Metal on WTBS when I was a preteen, I have been hooked. Taarna was a cool looking character and I’ve snagged whatever appearances of her that I can. Last Stories of the DC Multiverse: a bunch of interesting short stories all tying into the next big reboot? of the DC universe. Pretty standard fare I felt until I got to Gail Simone’s story. That legit made the room dusty. I usually appreciate her talent but don’t go out of my way to read every one of her stories. This one was pretty heartfelt though and really got to me. Usagi Yojimbo: I had the ambitions goal of reading the whole tpb run before 2021, but time constraints only let me get the first two done. Not sure how many books actually make up these first two since some are from anthologies but figuring 6 per book seems reasonable. Great story and I’ve been a fan of the character since I discovered him via the ninja turtle toys. I will be starting 2021 with some really fun reads. the others I have written about previously and nothing really amazing has occurred to add. All are tying up my wallet and won’t be getting cut anytime soon. Raze and ttfitz
Talapas1
2020 post Credits Epilogue One last book to finish 2020. Action Comics 1028. It’s kind of fitting that the last book I read right before midnight was Bendis’s last Action Comics book. I enjoyed this run a bit more than his Superman run and loved the House of Kent run for the most part. I wasn’t a huge fan of the invisible mafia, but it was fine. It was a perfect ending to an imperfect year. With this issue, my total for 2020 is 1,511 comics. Not too shabby. Thanks for all the support and sharing what you’ve been reading. I’ve added a bunch of stuff to my 2921 reading list based on some of what was on here this year. Happy new year! Reading back thru this thread to make a list of the stuff I've previously read, and I came across this, so I thought I'd say if you've been following my posts in the more recent threads, you know my daughter and I have done just that, and you were right, great book.
