DAMNIT!!!!!!

Of course I love it too, but it can be so friggin frustrating sometimes. There's no way that page should go for more than the third bidder's bid makepoint.gif

Edit: I'm second high bidder in case you don't know me.

Edit #2: Sorry for the lame post. Just a little post-loss venting blush.gif

That is a stupid amount of money for that page. I could see one of the Charles Vess pages from Sandman being that valuable, but not one by Jill Thompson..

Yup, and I was happy to pay right around there. I just wasnt about to chase it up to 1.5k.

I remember seeing someone selling a few SANDMAN pages with B.I.N. of around $800 or so. One was the first appearance of Desire if I recall correctly. Can't remember the sellers I.d. off hand. so I realize there is no real point to this post, but did you see THIS

Yeah, the crazy thing with Sandman pages is that you can get one without Morpheus for $200-$400 any day of the week, but as soon as he's in a panel, the price friggin triples. I guess I should be happy since I bought this page for $600 last year...

My Sandman Page...

And yeah, I had that Preacher page on my watch list, but kinda forgot about it. Congrats on the pickup. You cant beat an early run title page for that price even without main characters. I actually just posted 3 more Preacher pages I picked up recently in my gallery. If you wanna check them out, you can access them through the link to my Sandman page above.

Glad you forgot about that page. It's hard to get ANY page for under $100 now, and forget about it if it has a main character on it! That's my 4th title page (out of 74) so i'm happy with it.

I see you have some "Y" pages. I like the story well enough, but none of the pages I've seen really strike me. I'll probably leave that series alone entirely and stick with PREACHER and LUCIFER. I've got one SANDMAN page from the Orpheus special, but I have a hard time spending $1000+ for a page when a painted cover can be had for that or less.

O.T.: Wouldn't James LeMay(search "lemay" on my site if you don't know who I mean) be perfect for a FABLES one shot? I so wish he could do one.

Y is tough. I freely admit that my Y pages are weak, but there's not much out there and it's one of my top 5 current books, so I need something. Pia doesnt sell her pages and Jose Marzan only sells his mediocre examples. Fanfare Sports was selling JG Jones's painted covers to the first 17 or so issues, but I didnt want to drop $1100 on one.

From the stuff on your site, I can definitely see LeMay on a Fables book. He has a really clean style with a little cartoonish quality that creates an cool contrast with the mature subject matter. thumbsup2.gif

I personally can't wait for the new Fables OGN hardcover since James Jean will be doing his first interiors.

Did all those Jones Y covers sell? I don't see any up on Fanfare any more.

No. I dont specifically know what the situation is, but if you email Tom at Fanfare, he'll give you the contact info for the guy who is selling them now.

Sorry Solar,

Believe me, I cursed up a storm as well that you pushed it that high.

I guess I'll be seeing you on the battlefield...

Hey, welcome to the boards! Sorry I bumped you up, but at least you know that someone out there wanted the page almost as much as you.

I've actually ended up scoring two great Sandman pages as a result of being under bidder on that auction so it worked out ok for everyone. wink.gif

Plus the further good news is that I won't be bidding on that Zulli page you're currently toplining!

Show us the two pages you've acquired since! I would only pay this much cause I'm a huge fan of the series...

Yeah, how about some pics. Which issue #, Pg #s.

As I've said in a previous post, I've only managed a measly 1 Sandman page frustrated.gif and it's not even from the regular series, it's a one shot page. My only concelation (sp?) are my 101 Preacher pages grin.gif

Well, they're not going to be here for a couple days, but I can show you the scans from the website of the seller. This guy has one of the best Sandman art collections out there and has decided to piece alot of it out. PM me if you want his email / website, but be forwarned, you'll have to make a nice offer for the good stuff grin.gif

Here's the first one...Jill Thompson Sandman 44 last page. This one is cool cause it's my second page from 44.

This is now officially the coolest panel page in my collection...Sandman 12, page 22, Chris Bachalo. This page is the begginning of the end for Morpheus. By ticking Lyta off, he lays the foundations for the Kindly Ones arc...

I also got this page in the deal. Considerably cheaper, but still sweet and right up your alley Mister Not So Nice!

Preacher 59p3 ALAMO!

That issue #12 page is truly awesome. Congrats on it! I know the fellow you purchased from. He also has the Zulli page up on Ebay.

He's truly a gentleman, and very fair with his prices. I was fortunate to bump into him at the right time, and managed to pick up some pages from him as well. I'll post here when they come in and I get up my gallery on CAF (finally).
