There is no reason to think that these higher prices will hold.  The Boards are riddled with examples of books that get on people's radar, they start posting about them, a small group of competitive people also decide they want them, and then a mini-boom erupts.  The biggest one I can recall was high grade Dave Stevens covers. They really popped for a while when people were getting the Registry set completed etc.

I would expect when the dust settles that as more of these books become available, they will be able to be gotten for 60-70% of the high prices.

(Please don't think I am dissing these books. I'm not. Merely discussing the "price boom" that sometimes gets worked up on the Boards.)

Not sure why 15,16,17 are getting the most "love"  recently in auctions, when #24 is the True current King of High Grade Scarcity for the title.

Because those were the ones a lot of people were missing to complete their run in the CGC Registry. People get close to an end to their run and will pay more just to finish it. I’m guilty of it lol. #15 about a month or so again there were only 4 in the census.

Agreed, however what's sort of interesting that I mentioned earlier is that I was the second person to get a complete 9.8 run in the registry back in February and since then it's up to a total of 5. That's pretty uncommon for a bronze age 24 issue run I think...

It really is.  But you never know what is going to catch the collective fancy - some from history that are pretty interesting in addition to the Dave Stevens covers - the Maxx Artist Proofs, the Death of Superman later printings, to some extent the Boards have fomented the newsstand craze, and honestly, I think sketch covers should be on the list as well.

It happens when people realize "Yeah - those are pretty cool." The great thing about Godzilla is that he had 25 or so years with the Toho movies, and then all of a sudden they bring him into the Marvel Universe and then just as quickly - POOF - the license is gone and so is he.  Godzilla is an icon and his time in the MCU, while pretty weird, is also pretty cool.  Congrats on your set!

PS: One of you guys probably has this now.

Many consider "High Grade" for 1977-1979 to be 9.6 or 9.8.  In order here are the 5 Marvel Godzilla's with the fewest combined total of 9.8 and 9.6's

#24 = 16
#16 = 21
#17 = 21
#15 = 22
#13 = 23

#24 and #15 are tied for the fewest 9.8's with 9, but #15 has nearly double the amount of 9.6's as #24.

#24 has a measly 16 copies in 9.6 or above.

#12 and #15 are tied for the least slabbed book.

#1 has more 9.8's and 9.6's then one can shake a stick at.

#24 has the Lowest Average Grade in the run, averaging what for a late bronze age Marvel is a meager 8.96

#19 has the highest Average grade in the run with a robust 9.67.

Not sure why 15,16,17 are getting the most "love"  recently in auctions, when #24 is the True current King of High Grade Scarcity for the title.

BTW, I've no vested interest in #24, and as I've mentioned in a previous post above my favorite issue is #23.  Just having fun with Marvel Godzilla census numbers. So now be prepared to fight the wolves in the next #24 auction :)

24 should have 1 less blue label as my blue went to yellow - not through CGC so the census was never corrected.

Even got a PQ bump lol

There are 6 - don’t be a 9.8 snob 😂

Yes it is interesting that the pages became more white as the many years passed

Yep, weird - there are not many Godzillas with actual "White" pages.
