Currently on Ebay you can BIN copies for $6800 & $7200

There are also 2 auctions currently running which are both currently at $5600 with 3 & 4 days to go.

Like I had alluded to on another thread here....................do you really think all deep pocketed bidders scour through countless pages of eBay comic book listings to search out random key books that they might be interested in bidding on, as I would very much highly doubt it.  :gossip:

It's almost like saying high end shoppers who are used to shopping on Rodero Drive or at other brand name designer fashion clothing stores would go to regular department stores to search out fashion clothing for themselves, although I am sure some probably do. (shrug)

Deep pockets?  This is a $9K sale.  I don’t think folks with deep pockets are trolling for ASM 300

Last sale $2699

You posted it as a BIN?

It wasn’t CGC. I listed it at $3K with best offer starting at $1500. I countered with $1750 and it sold after I hit reply. I could’ve countered at $2500 or $2000. But yeah. I was drinking when he offered. But he’s a happy buyer. And no. The book doesn’t have a shot at a CGC 9.8. Theres two color breaking spine tics. But it’s still a high grade newsstand

That is awesome. I bought a 9.6 off of eBay a little over a month ago for $1800. I always wanted an ASM 300 but it was always expensive and out of reach, I decided to finally add it to my PC before prices possibly get out of control. This is another one of those books where the price has been somewhat stagnant.

I felt that way when it was $600 - $800 for a CGC 9.8 copylol.  I remember "overpaying" for my copy but didn't care.  It was a book I always wanted since seeing it in my LCS.

***Just wait until Venom vs Spiderman becomes a movie (not the Topher Grace debacle)

Crazy to think now that the 9.8 is worth $5K+, so you didn't do too bad for yourself. LOL!

If we get to see Spidey vs. Venom in the MCU, this book will probably see another crazy high for sure.

The guy that paid $9200 for a copy at the end of 2021 sure hopes so. :tonofbricks:

Current Near-Infinite Supply Foursome and IMHO poor investments at current prices:

Looking at total submissions, these books look like they have an infinite supply, but I think the important factor is the Average Grade (last column).

An (effectively) infinite supply of 9.4 or higher would also have an average grade of 9.4 or higher, but that's only true of Spawn #1 and (basically) Amazing Spider-Man #361 (9.38 average).

New Mutants #98 most likely has a long way to go with copies that are 9.2 or higher (since the average is still 9.14), but the average for Amazing Spider-Man #300 is 8.66.

There may be another 28,954 copies yet to be graded, but I'd be surprised if the majority of them aren't below that 8.66 average... since the "28,954 best copies" are more likely to be graded before the "28,954 next best".

The number of CGC 9.8s will grow for ASM #300, but I don't think it will be 5.3% that it is now unless they're all high grade pressing regrades that don't remove the original from the census.

I think I'll hold my NM 98 9.6 newsstand for now

Already sold my ASM 361 9.6 for profit

Don't have a ASM 300 yet, not sure I want one

Have a ASM 299 9.8 I'm also sitting on

Smart move on the 361 money can be spent on a book on the rise?

The salad days (or daze) for #361 ended when the 2 copies I purchased as late teen came back from CGC as 9.8's. On that day it was going for approx 850-900 now at half that amount Buy-it-now's sit on eBay unsold. While it may have a dead-cat-bounce left in it my opinion is book will settle at $300-$350. Which given the huge Census population still seems like good coin.  Lets face it Carnage at best is a cheap-jack Venom with a CGC 9.8 pop that will exceed 6000 by end of year.

#299 - copy I purchased as a mid-teen, came back 2 weeks after my 361, again with a 9.8. As I recall at the time the book was a tad over $1000.  The CGC 9.8 pop is pretty near 1/6 of 361 and perhaps one day it will be given more respect. IMHO the last page of 299 is Classic Venom and significantly nicer looking page than any Venom page in 300 and rivals the cover of #316 for my favorite Venom depiction.

the 9.6's and 9.4s exceed the 9.8's by the amounts they do likley due to the condition sensitive back cover. That TSR ad is rather susceptible to color loss.

  Amazing Spider-Man 299 (4/88, Marvel Comics)
            Venom cameo. Chance appearance.

The light line in the upper right is a light scratch on the slab courtesy of CGC's non-existent quality control.  After the scan was taken I was able remove it using PlastX
