I picked up and read the Prelude TPB this past Wednesday.  Got to say I really enjoyed it.  The prelude is pretty close to a perfect comic read.  The art is really good with a good amount of great spreads.  Curious to see what others thought of it.

Agree.  Enjoyable read, along with the FCBD issue.

I missed the Prelude.  Read the FCBD.

Thought that was so-so.  I'll have to flip thru the Prelude when I hit my shop.

Picked up the Prelude and am about 1/2 thru.

Much, much better. 

Definitely have to read this 1st, from a quality perspective.  I know, I know: that's what Prelude means.

The $10 was worth the trade format. 

Speaking of which, it would be the 1st appearance, correct?  Can't be too many desirable 1st appearances in that format. 

In retrospect, it's a really odd way of intro'ing the series.  TPB format, FCBD issue, then #1.

I think we'll see more of this....

Finished the Prelude, then re-read the FCBD. 

Though I agree with some reviews that much is cliche, it's pretty solid. You can see he's moving beyond the standard kung-fu movie premise.

Bought #1 and thought, what the hell.  This is identical to the FCBD. 

Then I woke up and realize, that's how all the FCBD's are!  DOH

Anyone "read" #2?  Kind of like the silent GI Joe story for much of it.  

Overall, enjoying it.

I'm in the middle of the prequel.  So far, pretty entertaining.

@followtheleader so I DONT need the FCBD issue? And read the TPB before? I bought 1-3 and have not read them as Im trying to find a TPB at a LCS.

The FCBD is the same as the #1.  

Kind of like Sixth Gun FCBD and Sixth Gun 1. 

Definitely read the TPB 1st.  It's really a really huge prequel.

I hadn't heard of this series (haven't read any new comic series since 2011).  But this recommendation from VikramK in the Invincible series thread caught my attention.

 

"I buy everything Robert Kirkman writes. 

I’d recommend the following if you haven’t gotten them:

- Firepower - IMO - shaping up to be better than Invincible"

 

A bold claim.  So as an Invincible fan I had to check it out.

Just finished the prelude comic and I'm intrigued.

Saying better than Invincible might be a little much.  

I think 11 was recently released.  And it's getting interesting. 

Really fast read each month though.

I’ve been meaning to check this series out and probably will soon. But, WTH is up with the million variants next month? Noticed there were a ton on FOC last week.

That is really silly.  

Being 12, likely wanting to push the end of the arc? 

I know everyone will buy the Covers H and J. 

Kind of stoked to see what Cover B will look like.
