Bosco685 Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 (edited) Batman: Gotham Knights Officially Revealed Quote Today, after months and months of anticipation, WB Games Montreal revealed a new Batman game titled Batman: Gotham Knights for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. And to accompany the announcement, the developer and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have revealed the game's debut trailer, offering our first look at a brand new version of the Defender of Gotham. The trailer also reveals the game will release sometime in 2021. "Batman is dead. It is now up to the Batman Family - Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin - to protect Gotham City, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals," reads an official pitch of the game. "You must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save Gotham from chaos. Your legacy begins now. Step into the Knight." As we already knew, WB Games Montreal will be taking the reigns of Batman, a character it has some familiarity with, but not as much as Rocksteady, the team behind the Batman: Arkham trilogy. However, while Rocksteady is the team behind most of the recent Batman games, WB Games Montreal did develop Batman: Arkham Origins, the successor to Batman: Arkham City that hit back in 2013. It's widely considered the least impressive entry in the four-game series, which is probably why, at least partially, Rocksteady seemingly pretends it doesn't exist when it talks about the Batman: Arkham series. Before shipping Batman: Arkham Origins in 2013, WB Games Montreal hadn't really done anything of note. And since then, it hasn't done much either. In 2014 it shipped LEGO Legends of Chima Online, and then a year later in 2015, it released Batgirl: A Matter of Family, DLC for Batman: Arkham Knight. In other words, we haven't seen or heard much from the studio since it released Batman: Arkham Origins. It's been seven years since it shipped a game proper, and six years since it shipped anything at all. Edited August 22, 2020 by Bosco685 Namtak 1
Bosco685 Posted October 11, 2021 Author Posted October 11, 2021 WB games sent out teaser press kits prior to DC Fandome.
Bosco685 Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 Quote The release window of Gotham Knights, the first Batman game since Batman: Arkham Knight, may have just been leaked. More specifically, it looks like the highly-anticipated new game from WB Games Montreal is poised to release sometime during spring 2022, which is to say sometime in March, April, or May. In other words, it may not be very far away, and if this is true, it means we should be getting an official release date announcement soon alongside a marketing campaign.
Bosco685 Posted July 22, 2022 Author Posted July 22, 2022 Quote Previous Gotham Knights videos spotlighted the Court of Owls, but they don't appear to have a presence in the new Batgirl-devoted trailer. The trailer does focus on new enemies, however, with Batgirl quelling what appears to be a prison riot or escape attempt, only to come up against an imposing cane-wielding figure. The inmate wielding the cane could possibly be Sofia Falcone, a character who played a key part in Jeph Loeb and the late Tim Sale's The Long Halloween. The next scene sees Batgirl in another wardrobe change and in some kind of gladiatorial arena, where she faces off against an enemy wearing a pig mask and swinging a giant flaming chain. The most famous pig-themed Batman villain is Professor Pyg, but - save for WB Games Montréal departing massively from the comics - it seems unlikely this is the foe Barbara is fighting. If it is somehow Pyg, then it would just be further proof that Gotham Knights has a slight design problem.
D84 Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 I wonder if you can pick one character and stick with them throughout gameplay. It would make replaying the game more fun. ex: I've played the whole thing as Nightwing, let's try Batgirl this time. kimik and Bosco685 1 1
Bosco685 Posted August 24, 2022 Author Posted August 24, 2022 Quote Like the Arkham series before it, Gotham Knights is a game that draws from many corners of the Batman franchise to create its own, cohesive universe. This is a game that shines a spotlight on the Dark Knight's former sidekicks and the shadowy Court of Owls. But the game isn't simply borrowing from existing Batman mythology; it's also making some key additions of its own. And one of those additions is the focal point of Gotham Knights' prequel comic book, Gilded City. Written by Evan Narcisse (Rise of the Black Panther) and drawn by ABEL (Harley Quinn), Batman: Gotham Knights - Gilded City is a story that takes place both in the immediate leadup to the game and in Gotham City's distant past. And it all hinges on a new DC hero, a 19th Century freedom fighter known as The Runaway.
