Ok, it’s official. The price of a page is thru the roof on certain books.

There have been a lot of Bat 1 pages showing up on the market lately, and the prices have jumped.  Since there are are 2 Joker stories, there’s a total of 14 Joker pages to every Bat 1.  Up until the last few months, most of the Joker pages could be had for less than a thousand bucks. Now all of a sudden they are bringing $3k-$5k.

there are some who speculate that the price of a page will encourage people to cut up their Bat 1s and sell the pages individually. To them I say “have you seen the prices Bat 1s are now bringing?”      $240k for a 2.0!!!

with only 130 copies on the census, demand for a full book will not motivate sellers to piece their books out.

But how about AF 15? Not the same story. There’s 2265 Universal copies and another 918 restored copies. Since most restoration is on the cover, that’s 3000 AF 15s that could be a source for pages!  Compare that to the 130 Bat 1s on the census.

and now the AF 15 pages have started to hit ludicrous highs. There’s currently 2 or 3 Page 1s offered on the Bay with $10k BINs. And a page 2 just hammered for $5k in an old fashioned auction on the Bay.

time will tell, but the financial motivation to piece out an AF 15 might become a thing. With so many possible sources for pages (over 3000!), I don’t think it makes sense for these pages to continue to bring big money, but who knows

A 2.0 Bats 1 sold recently for 240 K. ????!!!!

Ahh, The Promise Collection.  It's amazing what this mega key has done especially when the knock on it not that long ago was that many copies survived ,  I wonder if this book has now knocked MC 1 to #5 on the GA list

Well we will know more shortly. The 2.5 MC 1 ends later today. I doubt it will match the 2.5 Bat 1, but interest in Submariner new movie hype might prove me wrong

Its at 240k   we shall see

I see  more growth potential In MC1

it was ranked 1  for many years

Ac1 and Tec 27 started DCU

MC 1 started MCU also  the rarest of the top 10 with Whiz 1

That knock hasn't seemed to hurt some silver age keys which survive at rates starting at 10X and sometimes exceeding 1000X their golden age counterparts

Here’s my addition! From Captain America Comics #5 in August 1941, is not just a page but the Simon & Kirby splash page from story #3, “Killers of the Bund.” It features Cap and Bucky fighting the Nazis well before the United States entered the war, and is quite historically significant in my eyes! Being that I’m not able to purchase a complete book between issues #1-10, the single page makes these early issues much more accessible!

Wow that’s brutal. Paging doctor wertham

actually, 90% of the German WW II covers were drawn and printed before USA entered the European theater. I more highly value the German covers from June 6th 1944 to April 1945(I forget the exact date Hitler offed himself)

Did not know the number was that high... you learn something new every day! The more I look at the page, you're right, it is extremely brutal... Comics Code Authority has entered the chat and is none too pleased.

Looks like someone snatched up the two Action 1 pages that have been on the Bay for a little while. Pretty damn solid sales, considering non Supes pages. The Zatara page sold for a nice premium.

I do see the “off” pages of Action 1 and Tec 27 come and go. Someone has had the centerfold from Tec 27 listed for awhile on CC’s exchange for the low low price of $37k. The seller must be fishing for someone trying to complete their own bootleg copy, because otherwise I don’t think these pages would normally bring this money.

Yeah I suspect that centerfold will be hanging out on CC for some time until the seller is willing to come down some. The only reason he has the $14K offer is because I offered it several years ago when I was trying to complete my incomplete Tec 27. Last I recalled he wanted $20K for it, which I and one other incomplete Tec 27 owner at the time would not do. But then those crazy sales happened, and he actually bumped the ask from like $27K to the now $37K ask, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he wants more than $20K now. I mean a Tec 27 centerfold is pretty damn special, but I think my offer of $14K was very solid 🤷‍♂️.

Did you give up on completing your Tec 27?

Yeah I sold it in a Comiclink auction a year ago. Shortly before the first book to start the wave of insane mega sales kicked off, the Tec 27 7.0 as I recall. I mean it sold for a solid enough price, but obviously now wishing I held on haha.

Some single Bat 1 pages ended in tonight’s Heritage weekly. The Joker pages still seem to get the most action. The Joker splash page went for $5k, which is stronger than I would have thought, all considered: tan page and tape, and against the backdrop of a crypto crash

What did the other bat 1 pages go for?

A nice action page of Batman (before the annoying Robin, but without Joker) went for $1300. A page featuring a fight with Joker went for  $2400. Incidentally, the latter page went for $3800 last December. Again, I think it’s the stock market and crypto crash that adversely affected pricing.
