My Grades Are In!

My first ever submission to CGC has finally completed and as of this morning my grades are finally in! I decided to send off a dozen Pokemon cards at the Standard Tier with sub-grades. I only sent off my best cards to them, but I knew that they was going to be very tough. They received them last Monday and now my grades are in.

The cards that I sent off were 12 copies of the Japanese promo card, Shibuya's Pikachu. I had originally ordered a lot of them from Japan back in the summer when prices were still somewhat cheap and I decided to sell off any that I didn't think would have a chance of getting a CGC 10. The remaining 12 I sent off to CGC. I could have packaged them a little better than I did (didn't have enough penny sleeves at the time, noob mistake I know) so that affected the surface grades on a couple of them I believe. Anyways, let's get into it!

Side note: The cards all say that they're Sword and Shield Promo cards on the label and I don't think that's totally accurate. There's only been one other seller to sell these on eBay and their's simply said "S-P Promotional Cards". None of their's had sub-grades on them though so for the time being, I think these are the only CGC graded Shibuya's Pikachu cards in the world that have sub-grades. I don't even think BGS has graded any of these yet either.

Also, sorry about the quality of the images. The website wouldn't let me simply download the scanned images so I just had to take screenshots.

First up, starting with the worst!

I'm pretty sure that this is one of like two that I sent in a premium card sleeve without putting it in a penny sleeve first thus I feel it deserved it's grade. I sent in a couple in premium card sleeves inside of Card Saver 1s and I think this was one of them. It was in better condition when I sent it off though for sure. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

Next up we have two Mint 9's!

I'm happy about these.

Next we have not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7, but 8 Gem Mint 9.5s!

So that's it for the 9.5 Gem Mints. I'm very happy with those.

Of course... I saved the best for last.

The Pristine 10!

I'm a little bummed that I didn't get at least one Perfect 10 like I was hoping for, but I knew going into it that they were going to be very tough on grading.

Takeaway: Just because a card seems perfect, doesn't mean that it'll get a 10, at least not at CGC.

Overall out of 12 cards I got an 8, two 9s, eight 9.5s, and a Pristine 10.

I'm pretty happy overall!

I should be getting them in the mail next week!

Best wishes,

Fearless

Thanks! CGC is really tough on grading so to me CGC 9.5s are equal to a PSA 10.

I bought them as an investment and I plan on using the money that I sell them for to send off a bulk submission to them as well as start my own business.

I'm quite happy :)
