Back in another time and another place, I spent a chunk of one summer working in Bavaria, Germany and took with me the "complete" works of Lovecraft as edited into this massive 3 book set in the Collection Bouquins. Each volume in the set tops out at 1,200 pages or more. The collection not only has his fiction but also his essays, some correspondence and collaborations and other writings. Since I had most of the afternoons free, I read these cover to cover so I can claim I have read all of Lovecraft (... though I remember only fragments of it by now).

You know the most surprising thing is that only now do I realize that I have only ever read his work in translation!

I still have my set, some of the few books I decided to make the effort to bring across the ocean over the years.

Those are French editions, but you probably know that.

This is the cover to the "Cahier de l'Herne - HP Lovecraft", a massive, comprehensive, look at HPL, probably the first book in the world devoted to HPL criticism. Published in 1969.

I assumed that everyone knew / remembered I am French but, indeed, these are French as I was still a youth when I read these.

Picked up at a local store today.  Volume IV, for anybody who doesn't instantly recognize the volume from the cover color.  Goodness knows I wouldn't, but they're identical other than that

The Selected Letters series is great. I like how HPL made no distinction between writing stories for pay and writing letters. This was one of the many "unprofessional" habits he had that makes him so endearing. Art = life.

Necronomican press released the following individual Clark Ashton Smith stories as a series "The Unexpurgated Clark Ashton Smith." Most of the stories that I have here were published by Weird Tales in the 30's.  The exception being The Dweller in the Gulf in Wonder Stories.  Smith had no problem with revising stories so that they could be published.  I am sure he complained about Farnsworth Wright's editing though.  These were stories taken from Smith's manuscripts to restore them.

This is a first British pressing of Out Of Space And Time basically the Arkham House edition.  Published by Neville Spearman in 1971.

I believe that this is the last Arkham House collection of Clark Ashton Smith's stories published in 1988.  It collects stories from Averoigne, Atlantis, Hyperborea, Lost Worlds, and Zothique.

Two more publications from Necronomicon Press.  I was surprised at the prices on eBay for them.   I bought my copies a long time ago so they were much less.

Yep, it's kind of a greatest hits collection.  All of the stories appeared in earlier AH CAS collections.  There is a 2nd printing from 2003 with a different cover.

Another Clark Ashton Smith Story with a limited press of 250 copies.  This story appeared in the March 1936 issue of Weird Tales in a much shorter version.

Cool.  I didn't know there were different length versions of the story.  Looks like your chapbook is the first publication of the longer version, which means the abridged version is what's in the Arkham House book Genius Loci and Other Tales.

In related news, the original Finlay artwork for that story sold recently on Heritage.  I bid but lost.
