Toz Posted July 26, 2023 Share Posted July 26, 2023 (edited) Found these at Wammy (what my youngest Grand Daughter called it) today.They had more,Moom Knight cover and a few different Star Wars covers.Will probably let these simmer for awhile.I like the price,7 for $10 but I have to wonder if the regular packs are slowing down in sales and they need to move books.Seen these once before a few years back but don't remember what was in them.Back of packs are plain. Black Widow is Joe Jusko Masterpiece.Kang is second print. Mr. Spider-Woman Posted August 13, 2023 Share Posted August 13, 2023 (edited) I picked up one of the 7 comic packs a week ago. Darkhold: Black Bolt #1 Connecting Variant is on the top. It was one of three identical 7 packs. I've never come across them before locally. I check every now and then in case there's a new Fantastic Four Walmart variant available. There were also a bunch of the regular 3 packs which I think were all from Gen 14 posted by dzbad back in February. Don't know if that means this Walmart never got the latest packs or if those sold out and the unwanted packs from months ago are left. BuraddoRun Posted August 24, 2023 Share Posted August 24, 2023 I love the Walmart exclusive books, but a lot of the fun in these comes from discovering new things you didn't know about. 2nd printings, variant covers you've never seen, even the occasional oddity like a supposed pulped book...all that stuff is neat. Anyhow, I discovered something while flipping through a book I found in one of the Marvel $10 packs. You remember that New Warriors book that was supposed to release a couple of years ago when Covid-19 arrived? It was going to debut a number of new characters but got tons of backlash for various reasons, though it boils down to most people thinking the characters were either stupid or offensive. And it never released. No I didn't get that book (wouldn't that have been awesome?!), but I did get a variant of Darkhold: Blade # 1, written by the same writer of that New Warriors book: Daniel Kibblesmith. When I flipped though it, I noticed something. B-Negative, one of those characters that was going to debut in New Warriors, instead debuted in that Blade book. I wonder when the book was written. I didn't actually read it, but I assume that it was penned after New Warriors, and that Kibblesmith had planned for him to already be a part of the Marvel Universe by then. So there you go. If you want B-Negative's first (and quite possibly last) appearance, go get a copy of Darkhold: Blade # 1. Or, you know, buy some more Walmart packs and maybe you'll get a copy from there. I did find a stack of Marvel 3-packs and 7-packs on a random shelf with a few DC packs as well. There was also one open Marvel 3-pack. I'm pretty sure there were three Planet of the Apes 3-packs, three Black Panther 3-packs (can't remember the issue), and several different Moon Knight 3-packs. I still wonder who came up with these 3-packs and the Walmart variant covers. It seems like such a random thing for Walmart to want to do. There's no promotion anywhere, no way of knowing when new packs will drop or what comics will be in them. I’ve checked all of them in my 10-county travel area and one of the people who stocks that aisle in a local Walmart said at least that store no longer carries them. I regret not replying to it, sounds silly, but when he spoke I thought it may be a new trend or different parts of the country with a new test pattern or something. I figured if true it would play out in the thread, and I let it go, as I've never found a Walmart that sold them. Didn't look that hard as the ones near me are mostly grocery only. And yet the thought I might have replied makes it feel all of a sudden if that makes sense.
