CGC will not grade a book that they cannot leaf through. No one will. What is the highest and lowest price you've paid for one of the three-packs? Do you own all of them now? And it's understandable that CGC won't bother. Hard to tell whether or not it's been repackaged and the contents are not totally legitimate. In the meanwhile, I'm creating a visual key/guide for the rare Whitman comics. Hard to go through a text list when sellers don't always write out the issue number. No idea what the highest price would have been. Too many to keep track of stormflora

Too many to keep track of IIRC, you said that all of the rare Whitmans priced as 50c/60c are reprints and not worth collecting, right? Or are they just not as valuable as their 40c originals, but still uncommon?

Or are they just not as valuable as their 40c originals, but still uncommon? Never said any of them were reprints (some used the same covers and stories I believe) By the time the 50 cent books came out, they figured out their distribution issues. The exception being the 40 cent price variants from 1/81. There are two price versions of the following: Donald Duck 225, Huey Dewey and Louie 67, Uncle Scrooge 182, Little Lulu 262, WDCS 484, Bugs Bunny 223, Super Goof 63 and Pink Panther 78. The 40 cent versions of those books are the tougher ones to find. Edited December 1, 2023 by bellrules stormflora and OtherEric 1

stormflora
According to Mike's, Super Goof #60 isn't considered rare. Mike's Amazing World of Comics (archive.org)

Mike's Amazing World of Comics (archive.org) it's just some sellers try to sell it as such. Most Whitman collectors are aware that it isn't. stormflora

It hurts to look at, lol. Also, the prices he charges are arguably just as bad or worse than Mile High Comics. OtherEric
Maybe people include the SG 60 because it's known to turn up in bags with books that are in the zone? The image @bellrules posted had it bagged with the WDC&S 479, which definitely is in the zone. bellrules and stormflora

Just because I found a clone wars 1 for a dollar, that does not mean the book isn’t worth what people are paying. Look at the last sold on Huey 65 for example. stormflora

stormflora
Hm, I can't seem to find a picture of Pink Panther #78 (40c variant) anywhere. Is it extremely rare or something? Do you have a photo, @bellrules?

Might as well just go through the entire rare Whitman list and see what's being sold for cheap. Still not as rare as my 91 , although I do wonder if Comic is CGC 9.2 or higher which would command more at auction. I've a suspicion it might not be the art??? However, if you were to bundle it together with an actual issue that's at least Fine or Near Mint, I think that would make it worth quite a pretty penny. Popular Post stormflora
I've finally completed the rare (non-superhero) Whitman cheat sheet. Took me a while. Should be useful for anyone quickly browsing around lots/unspecified listings/yard sales/etc. All-Star Squadman, Warlord, MAY1979 and 2 others
All-Star Squadman
I also have #92. Way back when these were on Heritage I purposely went after them due to the scarcity of the Comics themselves. OtherEric and stormflora
