The Photo Journal Guide to Alan Class Comics only shows the 8p version of 96. However both 6p and 8p versions exist (as you say). It appears that the 6p was blacked out on some issues and an 8p price squeezed in. I wonder why this happened?

Sorry that I can't get the images to enlarge. They are both from feebay.

Getting and reading Silver Surfer #10 on holiday in 1973 turned me into a comic collector.
Here’s Alan’s version (compared to original version although there is a bit more building on the left looks like Alan has lost a soldier as well as another one cropped out of the bottom);

Nice :)

My Uncanny Tales #104 arrived, so I have three of the four now:

It's actually a great example of where the reprint gives you more of the original artwork than the original:

Cool.

Around 1975, I was visiting my Uncles in Minnesota and went to a church  rummage sale where someone had donated a stack of these small, weird comics.  I was ll excited until I saw they were in black and white. I'm not sure why, but that really upset me and I passed on them. I ended up buying a few coverless Tarzan comics instead. To this day, I'm still not  fan of B&W books.

I know what you mean, these stories were intended to be in colour so you don’t get the proper finished product. On the plus side you do get to see the art in all its glory, unobstructed and no colour distractions - like mini artist editions.

Really annoyed to have missed these two on the Bay recently, given my fondness for a PE.

No idea how they got past the Marwood search antennae... :frustrated:

Stoopid faulty Marwood search antennae.....

Thanks to Garystar for these

You’re welcome @mikeyc67thanks for your interest and glad they’ve found a good home. I’ve acquired rather than collected Alan’s and although a few years ago I did think I might go for all the Marvel covers I know I would never pay the price key reprints are now selling for. As part of downsizing my collection thought I’d let them go, although I have held back a few which have memories for me.
I did get some interest from US, Canada and Europe in my Alan’s.
