Just a heads up on using the taxex method to see what a book actually sold for.

George with GPAnalysis mentioned here that using this method isn't always accurate.

I don't know why it's not always accurate and didn't ask for clarification, but wanted to put that information out there.

Is this site accurate? I usually use this:

More proof that IH181 bubble has burst, down on every grade

Well, not that sure about Hulk 181 since Heritage just auctioned off a CGC 8.5 OW copy for $12K this evening:  (shrug)

Not seeing a whole lot of movement on 7.5. Maybe things are starting to level out in some grades? Or maybe it’s still too early to tell. I think we’ll have a more solid answer by the end of the year.

Two Hulk 181 CGCs 8.5 just closed for under $10k vs recent highs of +$12k.  One was Clink this week.    An 8.0 also just closed on eBay for $8.3k vs recent highs of +$10k.

Not saying this is a market correction yet - but feels like March April surge of books going up by 10-20% within a couple of weeks has subsided.    As someone selling books in this weeks Clink auction I do feel like prices are softer.

Phoenix s movie was about a man who had a mental illness then decided to dress like a clown.

That was not a movie depicting the villain we know as Joker

it showed the possible origin of a guy who might evolve into something (although they present him as possibly having some learning disabilities too, which might make it hard for him to be a criminal mastermind unless something changes, which can be easily done with some experimenting at Arkham..)

also, him as a cult figure getting big groups of people crazed, which we saw a bit of in Gotham (although that joker origin was pretty darn convoluted), possibly in the zillion joker stories in the comics, dunno

a 9.8 copy of FF 48 went for $94k in that same auction. It jumped $30k over the last minute

I admit, I know little of the canon involving Joker. I don't have many DC books and none involving him.

However, what information I do have of him (movies, posts in this very forum) gives me the impression that this movie is entirely stand alone. The fact DC allowed "Joker" be slapped on this movie was frankly an insult. If this movie was released on another premise, I think it would have actually done better.

This is not about Joker, has nothing to do with Joker and was a publicity stunt to put rear ends into seats...

It worked. Which frankly is sad, but with Venom 2 coming out, the formula is proving successful. Which sucks for people like me who want to see a story based translation to the screen, instead of thoughtless pandering

"If this movie was released on another premise, I think it would have actually done better." Better than over a billion at the box office even without a china release? Not a chance.

"This is not about Joker, has nothing to do with Joker and was a publicity stunt to put rear ends into seats..."   Given that there have been like 10 completely different origins of the joker (the movie being closer to the "Killing Joke" version, except with mental illness playing a bigger role) how are you coming to this conclusion? This perhaps just shows the point where is non-violent mental illness became violent. So far we don't see it as malicious or sadistic, sure, but give him some time in Arkham, that can evolve.

Gotham had an origin of the joker that was COMPLETELY different than anything we had ever seen. Even further from the comics than the Joker movie, arguably. He frigging grew up with Grayson's parents, I think he might have been Grayson's cousin or something.

In the comics DC loves playing with different versions of characters and "elseworlds", this is just one of those. Yes, it is a stand alone movie, but let's be serious, if they can make another one for $60 million it seems like another one makes sense as it would be hard for it not to make money. The real issue is whether Phoenix has it in him to do this again. And DC is going to want a movie that nudges him closer to what we view as the Joker.

Personal opinion is what I've stated. Compelling points, but none that will change my mind. The film was pandering, and it worked, which is why all we are going to get is more pandering

You're wrong, but that's ok. You're entitled to your [wrong] opinion. :flamed:
