Some of us even predicted this drop.  The conversation below was about X-Men #1 in 2.0.  People called me crazy for thinking the price would drop.  It peaked over $10k, and this month the low was $6200.  I'm thinking we haven't seen the bottom yet.  (Same applies to all grades of this book.)

😆 Now do all the books you overpaid for during this period of time.

There's no "race card" here, calm down please.

I asked a simple question based on the fact that MCU Nick Fury is clearly taken from the "Ultimates universe" version of the character.  Which means that maybe, maybe, some collectors feel like good ol' cigar-chomping Earth-616 Nick Fury is not the guy in the MCU.  It's a question worth considering since books like Strange Tales #135 and Nick Fury #1 underperform their comps in the market.

Yeah, throw the race card bs out.

No "race card" was thrown out.

Discussing race respectfully is not racist. In fact, from what I understand, modern psychology teaches that DISCUSSING RACE is the best way to STOP RACISM.

Avoiding discussions on race perpetuates racism.

The reasoning goes that when discussion is avoided, people start to form their own opinions that are based on their own biases and lack of understanding of a subject but when you discuss it you educate them on the topic and remove those biases by helping them understand them and put them into perspective.

ps. I think Nick Fury #1 is just not as popular as the other titles because the 60's spy doesn't translate well to today's crowd and that's the main reason it sells for less.

I think ***insert your Modern Age $5000 comic*** is way cooler. :D

The reason X-men keys have dropped is because everyone was expecting a massive announcement at SD last year.

When that didn't happen, the market backed off. Why? Because some people only bought to hold for the short to medium turn. Not everyone can hold indefinitely.

But you KNOW it's coming. Disney didn't spend $90BIllion to put them on a shelf.

When those announcements come everything Mutant will go nuclear again.

And people with deep pockets know this and are buying the dips.

So it ever was. So it shall be.

Yeah, I guess so ... but the Steranko cover is amazing.

I actually love the cover. I have always loved covers that fade from dark to light and I also love the book because it's harder to find than the surrounding 1968 key issues.

Cover gives me a headache

I can’t be the only one....:insane:

I edited my above post to include a pic.

I think that headache is from reading my posts.

Here are Session 1A and 1B results for the January ComicLink Focused Auction.    Given the volume of books in Session 3 and 4....I will probably not do much of a recap.    If I do it will really be just a few highlights.

Also note that GPA just updated to the 2022 average so there is not much of a spread between 12 mos and 2022 average.   I should have put 2021 average instead but was too far along before I really thought about it...will try to compare to 2021 average in the next auction or two.

Enjoy the weekend.

The last auction was such a weird one. Prices were all over the place, and it seemed like a lot of people were basing their bidding decisions solely off the last price of each book. I was in on the Action 242 5.0 until the price started climbing - then got myself a 5.5 with what I consider more appeal from an eBay seller for less than the 5.0's $3300 sale price. I threw down a single bid increment increase on the TEC 359 7.0 to bring it to $1540 thinking there was no chance it would go for that, and won. The last 7.0 which went for $1080 had some serious issues (Cream pages, significant cover tanning), and the book has consistently pulled in well over $1500 even recently. Lastly, I was keeping an eye on a Batman 255 8.0 that ultimately went for $186! There's an 8.5 (albeit with an imperfect wrap) available on Clink's exchange right now for $124! Like, do these buyers not check Heritage, MCS, or even eBay before bidding? Like I say, to each their own, but some of the recent auction results make very little sense to me. I just can't figure out who these buyers are...

Think I got all of them.  Some of these prices are thousands more than the last price from 2022 or 2021.  Last 106 sold for $6K and the last 113 sold for $3800.  Why does the 106 sell for that price but the 97 only goes for $2K?  Only thing I see right away is that there are 44 9.8s of the 97 but only 13 of the 106.

It's a thing of beauty. You can show this to non-comic people and it will impress them.

One of my favorite covers of all time. Even my wife (who cares nothing for comics other than it pleases me to collect) likes this cover.

Somebody (or rather multiple somebodies) went nuts.

I was bidding on two 9.6 WPs, and I got one of them (#98) for a good price but the other (#100) went for nearly 3x FMV.  Part of me wonders if somebody thought it was another 9.8.  lol

Moon Knight #1 in 9.6 WP.  Paid about $300, worth maybe half that now.  Oops.  That's about it.  I think my perspective was different than most.  I was out of the hobby for several years, and got the bug again last year.  I had major sticker shock.  I didn't see prices gradually increase.  It's like the analogy of boiling a frog by turning up the temp one degree at a time.  When I rejoined, the water was boiling.
