I was looking at Blue Bolt #105 in the Comic Link auction,  a 4.5 sold for $3819 in  May 2020, so of course this 4.0 goes for $7880!  Prices are up all over the place!

Well, you do realize that this book here is often acknowledged by many long time collectors as one of L.B. Cole's finest si-fi covers and extremely tough to find in grade:  :luhv:

Not sure about the defects without having the actual book in hand, but this copy here sure presents very nicely relative to its assigned grade of only a CGC 4.0 copy and clearly has not been graded according to the much softer Promise Collection grading standards.

In addition, it should also be pointed out that the entire collectibles marketplace, including vintage comic books, was just so much different back in May 2020 near the beginning of Covid, as compared to the entire collectible marketplace (along with some others) just took off like a rocket during the latter part of 2020 and throughout much of 2021.  (thumbsu

Speaking about TMNT 1, any guesses as to whether this copy here on the CC Event Auction website is going to past a quarter million dollars or not next Tuesday, and if so, by how much above the $250K mark:   :taptaptap:

I check multiple times a day to see how much it moves up in value. What gets me on the SS one is how much it cost to ship to CGC, get the sketch, grading, then returned shipping to the seller.

If the universal one sells for more, then the SS seller shot themselves in the foot? hm

Well, since this copy here is already sitting at over $185K with another 5 days to go, I don't think it's going to have any problems at all passing the near $199K mark which the signed copy on today's CL Auction sold for.  :gossip:

Especially since CC seems to the market maker right now when it comes to HG copies of TMNT 1, as evident by some of their sales of this book during the past couple of years.  (thumbsu

As a less experienced and less knowledgeable collector I find buying very confusing at present as sellers frequently mention GPA but seem to ignore it when it comes to their pricing. I found a Daredevil 8.0 on a site for $22500 but the GPA 90 day average is $15600 and last one sold is $14400. It seems like the bigger keys that I have the opportunity to buy are all priced above what they are currently selling for, Is this normal or have I just been unlucky?

bear in mind that many sales, including comiclink's, are not reported to gpa. and those can be significant. so gpa can be way off the mark. hulk 1 mid-grade sales this year are a good example. very little data there. but i agree, most dealers/ sellers are priced over gpa for keys.

Folks this is not just 'seasonal" these are the type of high % drop-offs that show a correction is in progress.

The more bandwagon jumpers see value of their holdings dwindle, the more they will sell and exit the hobby until the next boom. Good riddance IMHO

I don't sell comics so I've no skin in that game but attributing the data to being purely seasonal is denial. BTW the same thing is also occurring in Trading Cards.. Yeah prices are higher than last year and will likley not fall back to those levels, but that may be a book/case by book/case basis?

I have sort of been in this camp of thinking as well - though I do continue to think CL is showing more softness than Heritage or Ebay.   I will say this Dec CL auction seems to have a much more "refined" selection of books for sale - lots and lots of books that are in the top 5-10% of blue label books.   My cursory view is that there is more stability when comparing results to the Nov CL results - but there are also fewer comparable books since this auction is really the high-end goods.     Will see what the GPA comps say when I get them populated.
