Starting my own company

21 posts in this topic

Hey guys and gals,

I am leaving a company I have been with for many years and going out on my own. I am quite frankly tired of the b.s. and making other people money. My business is in electronic component/wire and cable/electromechanical distribution and if ANYONE out there is involved in purchasing any of this type of product and would like to give a person (me) an opportunity to do business I would certainly appreciate it.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I've run my won company - electronic sales and service - my whole working life. It's hard work and I've always stayed small, never employing more than a handful of people. For the last 7 or 8 years, it's just been me, as a one man band.

It can be hard work and I probably don't earn as much as I would if I had a proper job, but the rewards are immense. Being your own boss is very pleasurable and knowing that you are solely responsible for every penny you earn is hugely satisfying.

I've had good times and bad times over the years, but if I could go back in time and start again, I'd choose the same course.

I wish you the very best of luck in your endeavours and I hope you enjoy great success and prosperity!

In a nutshell.

Depending on your goals in life, its your call on how much or little you want to work to achieve them.

Dont get me wrong, there are ups and downs without a doubt, but its nice knowing that you only have to answer to yourself.

Steve,

Best of luck to you... if you get business cards or any other sort of business announcement, PM and send me a line at my business address and I will add it to my rolodex.

I find that I have the strangest need for people from time to time in all walks of life, so you never know who will come in handy.

The Manwithnewname,

Thank you for sharing your personal business views. I certainly understand this will be tough at the beginning but the long term should be rewarding. What kind of electronics sales and service are you in?

Steve

The company focus shifted dramatically towards the end of the 1990's, since which time I've been a distributor and repair agent for a Banknote Validator that's manufactured in Sweden. Very, very specialised.

good luck. i've pondered starting my own law practice (or partnering up with some others) for a long time. but not having that steady mortgage-paying paycheck coming in is scary. luckily my wife has a very safe and steady job that could pay our bills if necessary. We'd be eating ramen everynight and the baby might need to wear diapers made out of newspapers, but we'd survive.
