Funny, but back before the virus DC had been catching Marvel on new comic sales. Very hard to get data any more and with the virus it is sort of apples and oranges, very hard to work out what it means. Around a decade ago Marvel had 50% of new comics and DC had around 30% with independents with 20%. About two years ago, Marvel had dropped to high 30% a little more than DC and some months less, it just depended whether Spider-man was rebooted that month which seemed to happen about twice a year. My guess is comic reading and comic collecting for profit are now worlds apart. Many of my cosplay friends are huge comic readers but don't chase any old books. Not quite sure who these old book chasers are. Not sure where this is heading, but it will soon be like Bitcoin, where if no one ever sells and everyone in it keeps hyping they think the market can never go backwards. So many people buying books they have no love for. frozentundraguy, Iconic1s and flashlites

I have a stack of them as they were good comics, 60 years ago. Just could not bring myself to reading them since. Not sure Marvel fans have any DC. It would betray their sense of fandom. frozentundraguy, flashlites and jimjum12
Popular Post BoogieWoogie
My collection is 95% Marvel but I love DC. I think. I grew up reading Spider-Man so it's a lot easier for me to branch out into other Marvel characters. But I have slowly been reading Batman more and more and I'm subscribed to the new Wonder Girl series... I'd call myself DC-curious. I don't know what number that would earn me on the Kinsey scale. I am definitely rooting for DC to get their TV properties together so I can have some low investment paths to figure out if I want to do a deeper dive into any of their characters and start picking up books... People collecting DC right now could be huge, huge winners if the DCEU ever gets off the ground even half as well as Marvel has done with the MCU. Tons of potential there... jimjum12, Microchip, Terry E. Gibbs and 3 others

Popular Post flashlites
I love Silver Age DC! Obviously! I am soooooo glad there are fewer collectors and especially glad the prices are relatively low! On my small budget I was able to complete my run, a dream of a life time. I also collect or used to collect some Marvel. ( Some of my best friends are Marvel collectors) I love Thor and at one point in the 1990's I nearly had a complete set of Journey into Mystery. I was only short the #83. So I guess I'm not sure what you are getting at here? If you love a character you love that character. If you fell in love with only Marvel, good for you, at least you fell in love with something. Marvel comics are great. But there are some great DC books too. Average raw Silver Journey into Mystery say 3.0 or under...about 60-80 bucks last I checked. Average raw Silver Flash say 3.0 or under .... about 30 bucks. If you are collecting for investment or chasing Fads and Keys, I really don't know what that's like, so I'll only say this: have fun with it but try and look a little deeper into the hobby once in a while. There's a lot of fun in between the covers...! But you'll have to buy a reader copy to find out. davidtere, BoogieWoogie, alexgross.com and 9 others
Popular Post Readcomix
I know we’re in Silver, but obviously the companies span decades, so I just want to offer that IMO there is not better comic-reading value for your entertainment dollar currently than back issue Copper-90’s DC. In an era where Marvel gave us Secret Wars II, superheroes with big outlandish guns, lots of soap opera (looking at you, X Drek) and on and on, DC was putting out lots of very readable stuff. Not just swamp thing, Sandman, Watchmen, and the better known stuff, but the Justice League incarnations from Giffen to Morrison, the 2-year Blue Beetle run, most of Captain Atom, early Wolfman Perez Titans, LSH through the 80’s, Peter David Aquaman, the Wally West Flash years, Ostrander’s Suicide Squad and Martian Manhunter…lots of dirt cheap, near keyless affordable fun. Marvel same timespan not so much. Edited July 29, 2021 by Readcomix Typo Larryw7, PopKulture, MusterMark and 15 others

Hey I love the stories too - lots of folks here aren't reading new books every week anymore like I am which is their prerogative - but buy, sell, trade is the greatest sport in human history... the prize secured is the most coveted, fought over resource there is, virtually everyone can participate, AND both the buyer and the seller can win! Can't beat that with a stick. You don't know what you're missing! flashlites

Marvel same timespan not so much. +1 I've said this for a long time! Look, Marvel won the SA. It wasn't close and with good reason. Better stories, better characters. So in SA of course DC lags. DC won the GA nearly as dramatically. Timely had hits and other publishers made a splash, but DC won the era. BA I think was a mixed bagged where both companies had home runs and strike outs, but DC did tremendous work in the Copper age. That's really the genre I grew up reading. As a kid, I loved the Xmen and What If. As I got older, all I read was copper age DC and those stories are really the ones that have stuck with me. Kind of off topic, but the comics I enjoy reading the most now are Atomic age DC. The science fiction and horror stories. Boy, they were concerned about those Soviets!! Still a very affordable genre. Randall Ries
I have I think 1 Marvel book and the rest are DC or an indie label. I don't collect new books or I'd be up to my neck in them. Please by all means ignore DC. Drive the sell prices down. There's a lot of DC bronze age I want.
