A photo from the set of Barry season 3 confirms filming is officially underway. The HBO tragicomedy stars Bill Hader as Barry Berkman, a highly skilled hitman who travels to Los Angeles to take out a target but inadvertently falls into an acting career. Barry managed to transcend its sketch-show premise to become one of HBO's most acclaimed half-hour series in years, thanks to veteran showrunner Alec Berg (Curb Your Enthusiasm and Silicon Valley) and a well-rounded cast of unique character actors. Season 2, in particular, was beloved as the show's audience grew significantly and the explosive finale left viewers immediately craving season 3.

As with everything else, the pandemic, unfortunately, shut down season 3 production on March 18, 2020, right as cameras were set to roll. The silver lining of the 17-month delay is that the writers were able to pen all of the season 3 and 4 scripts, confirming the Barry team is more than ready to step back into their dangerous acting underworld. While Hader has been careful in interviews about keeping season 3 details under wraps, fans just got their first confirmation that production has finally kicked off.

Anyone else finishing watching this season? Can't wait for season 4!

That was a dark finale for sure. So I wonder how this plays out in the next season?

VERY dark! I have no idea where it goes from here. There was a lot to unpack in that finale.

Yes, that was Guillermo del Toro in 'Barry'

Barry has delivered jaw-dropping plot twists, but none have been as utterly delightful — or as unexpected — as the moment when a wild Guillermo del Toro appears in Season 4.

The Academy Award-winning director makes an appearance in the season's third episode, "You're Charming," as a crime boss fittingly named Toro. That name is no coincidence. According to an interview in Deadline, Barry's co-creator and lead actor Bill Hader actually wrote del Toro into the show once del Toro told him he'd love to be a part of it.

Series finale was last night and it was incredible.  Anyone who likes dark comedy needs to watch this series, very underrated series.  Great ending.

Have to agree. That was one heck of a crazy entertaining finale.

Including the ending with his...

For me, the ending of Barry was a let down. The whole finale season was weak, with only a few sparse pieces of interest.

It felt rushed and yet empty. Like last season of GOT.

The last few episodes just had no gas left in them.

As high points, the rise of Hank and killing of Cristobal and Fuchs "becoming" The Raven in prison were interesting, but nothing as riveting like prior seasons (Barry killing Janice, killing his friend Chris, going berserker mode in the monastery, Gene setting up Barry at Jim Moss' house, Sally's self-destruction on her show, so many great scenes and plot twists).

A few sparse dark comedy pieces (the attempted hit on Barry in prison and Hank missing Fuchs with an errant missile) were too few and far between. This is the same show that dropped that whole "karate-kid" episode on us out of nowhere.

The last season just had no gas from the start, and always seemed unsure where it wanted to go.

 YMMV.
