What do you think? Are the ripples on the back cover a problem?

Unfortunately with these square bounds, once you open the book up to read, a crease is created along the spine that will likely take this out of 9.8 contention.

Yeah that crease is a shame because the rest of it looks great.  I have almost no experience with squarebound grading but I have it at 8.5 based on that big crease and the "ripples"

Agree.  These types of books have to be read carefully.  At least the ink-breakage is at a minimum...could be a lot worse.

Dunno about the press for these with the thicker cover paper stock.

Glued spines don’t always react well to a full pressing…can do more harm than good.  A lower heat press might help a bit…
