I would even say some titles are experiencing run-wide jumps with non-key issues.  Weird Tales and Planet Stories, for instance.  And even at the low end you're less likely to find underpriced books like you used to.  But a generic western issue won't have moved much, for instance.

Yes, good point on Weird Tales and Planet.

Just a number of unrelated pulps I was watching and what they sold for.  Going through my watched history, a number of books I saved I noticed were posted here by people who won them, so I didn't include those so as to not be tacky.  If I accidently put a book someone here won in this list, let me know and I'll delete it.

Spoiler

$113.  Interesting cover.  Always appreciate war era covers.  2 years before D Day, 2 years after Dunkirk.

$175.  Not surprising, this book is sharp!

1.thumb.jpg.7122fc836e46369475c2ba84ebe98926.jpg

$165.  I love how the annual sub price is on the front cover.

1.jpg.08d668227bfd7534e10cde05c33e5deb.jpg

$127, no back cover.  Earl Stanley Gardner.  I used to buy old paperbacks from ESG for my mom when I ran across them at bookstores, but this is more than I'd pay for something she'd read and then throw away.

1.jpg.cc7c9907f857c3fda26a6129cb9d8955.jpg

$214.  I saw a few weeks ago someone on FB not familiar with pulps found a big pile of old pulps, and had a number of black masks.  Wonder what happened to them.

1.thumb.jpg.9867d26b9999a258912d2389fe6204ae.jpg

$47.  Not a pulp, I know, but became aware of this title when I was reading about Seabury.  Really wish I went more aggressively after this book, I love the cover.

1.thumb.jpg.74d9a2a57426f8372468078f1ee8b030.jpg

$153.  Wow.  Don't know what to say other than I love this insane tacky cover, and the back of the book looks like a pot of coffee spilled on it.

1.thumb.jpg.581c51e68a915959c30c13af2080ca1c.jpg

$182.  A-head of the curve with the manbun.

$257.  Healthy price for the second best Startling cover.  Yes, second best :boo:

I'll bite, what's the best startling cover if that's #2?

Don't really want to say until i upgrade my copy, but I'm pretty sure it inspired a campy sitcom involving nose twitching 😄

I don't personally agree, but that's one of the few issues where I at least won't argue the point... it's one of the best, even if I prefer the January 1950.

That's actually a pretty good deal, this issue frequently sells for $300-$400 in this kind of shape.

Couple healthy VG Planet sales.  Bid sniper got some, feels like I'm watching GA comic auctions :flipbait:

161.  I had it at 45 up until the last minute, and 3 people drove it up a healthy amount.  Personally the coolest cover of the bunch.

This one was fun to watch.  Like a football game, back and forth, from 100 bucks to 306 within the last 2 minutes of the auction.

51.  Had this one at 50 till the last second.  Seems like it was underpriced looking at the ending prices of the other books around it.

1.thumb.jpg.935030e7db2c7a071d65bc271d76bc4e.jpg

50 to 160 in the last minute or so.

I did end up walking away with at least 1 book.  $12.50 :)

Thanks for the report.  I've only got the two I've quoted above, the Leydenfrost Planets are definitely in demand but $306 seems like a very solid price for a copy in that grade.  Very happy with my copy, given that I got it essentially for free.  (I bought a small batch of pulps and flipped one of them for roughly what I had paid for the lot.)  The Super Science Stories is beat up but may seem like a steal not too far in the future, it's Ray Bradbury's first profession publication.

Pricewise how do British editions compare to the original US editions?

I don't have any answer for this other than "it depends".  Some of the British editions are almost identical to the US editions, some drop illustrations or stories, and other changes.  My gut reaction is they're usually less than the US versions, but that's far from universal, and given the increased interest in UK comic variants I could see UK pulps jumping as well.

Further confusing the issue is there are at least some pulps... Astounding in the late 30's comes to mind... which have UK editions that have the US price on the cover.  I'll try to dig out my one example and show it here.
