Haven't seen a thread for IH #180. So, Considering the importance of this book to the bronze age, contentious history aside. It's about time IH #180 owners had a thread to show their yellow-covered beauties off. Here's mine........

Always great to see a high grade raw copy. It's like seeing an animal in the wild instead of behind bars at the zoo.

I got the ss 1st out of all 3. 1st big con I ever went to it was the 1st stan Lee opportunity I ever had, 1 of first 4 books I ever submitted for ss. Back in 2016, when the new cases emerged, and when I joined the boards 

 

Then wanted a blue label so I got the 5.5

Then wanted to upgrade but it started to move in price, so I used a 15% off Ebay coupon back when they had those  and grabbed the 8.5, the highest grade I could afford at the time during college. Forgive the wraps please

Can't recall whether it was from an LCS or the grocery store, but another happy accident on my part.

Lol first 4 I submitted for SS was for Stan.

A IH 180&181, got the Stan label, but 181 has since been pressed and reholdered.

And FF #49 with Joe sinnot and Stan, and a ASM 129 mark jewelers by Stan; both regular label.

I had to learn fast and quick how it all worked 😂

I've had this copy for 35 years - since I was 11 or 12. I think I traded for it with a friend. It's a real beater and the cover is detached. I've never thought about upgrading it.

I used to argue that this was the first appearance, cameo be damned, of Wolverine to anyone who'd listen. It made me feel better until I got 181 about 15 years back. It's the book that matters.

Still, I love 180 and that last panel.

I was looking through some prices realized over the past year, and it seems this book, at least in 9.8, is third behind IH #181 and GS-Xmen #1 as far as prices realized. Did I leave any out that I should consider?

You are correct sir ! MS 5 came in at a whopping $264,000 for a 9.8 during a June 2021 Heritage auction. Those black borders are near impossible in that grade. That price even beats out IH 181 and GSX 1! Still leaves our IH 180 in the top four unless there are others??

This is the copy I bought off the rack in '74.  The preservation benefitted from being a mid summer release - I was in college at the time, and during the school year gave one of my roommates access to my new books, which didn't happen over the summer.  Luckily, same thing for my copy of 181.

It became a 9.8 after I sold it.
