Popular Post Robot Man
One of several I got signed by one of my favorites, Russ Heath. Got to talk to him a while and he related several stories about the Playboy mansion. Russ enjoyed his wine and was quite the party guy I think... Popular Post Robot Man
Carmine Infantino was a bit of an egotist and bad mouthed a lot of the DC folks. Still nice to have one of my favorite Infantino books signed. I don’t think he did a lot of shows on the West Coast. This was at SDCC. electricprune, Msgarmar, silverseeker and 3 others

Popular Post Msgarmar
I just met Jim Shooter at the NC Galaxy Con last month and he signed a bunch of my childhood books for free. He was psyched that they were my original books and he showed me a bunch of his comics he had that he brings with him. He also told me a story about how him and Stan Lee were signing at a comic con and Stan’s shirt gets caught on the edge of a FF1 he’s signing and he rips the cover right in two! He said Stan shrugged and just kept signing other books! Shooter was laughing while telling that one. It was all very surreal and all I could think of was how incredibly cool he was. I wasn’t going to ask for a pic because I didn’t want to bother him but he suggested it. I wish I could thank him again for how happy he made 46 and 12 year old me! Anybody got any good stories connected to your autograph experience would be fun to hear... I actually created a topic on that because my John Byrne experience was, memorable. John Byrne Story I should add what happened with Claremont to those books too, because THAT was also a story!
Popular Post J Bill
I got this signed by Jim Aparo, Giordano, Sprang (!), Denny O'Neil, Dave Dorman and Archie Goodwin at the Chicago Comicon in 1989. Sprang was the Guest of Honor that year. I remember being dead set on getting as many signatures in the book as I could that day, although I never brought it with me to subsequent conventions to get more sigs... spracknetch23
Getting this cool double cover Groo signed was memorable. The guys got a real kick out of it. They triple-signed it and each had their own way to sign each cover and title page. Unfortunately I only have the front cover scanned and I'm too lazy to dig it out atm. I had the TMNT 1 (3rd printing) signed by Peter Laird at Comicfest '93 in Philly. At the time, he said "wow, I've never signed one of these before. Is this a first printing?" Which is weird, because they signed many #1s before 1993. I think he meant he hadn't signed any of them on the front cover. 21 years later, I met Kevin Eastman at a Dayton, OH con and asked him to add his signature in the same color as Laird's. I had the Spider-man 13 signed by McFarlane at the '93 Comicfest as well. Went back to Philly in '94 to add Stan's signature. He signed it small in Spider-man's eye and said of Todd's large signature "Does this mean he has a bigger ego than me?" I know they became good friends later, but it's funny to remember that quip. Probably my most cherished autographed item. Wow, that's a masterpiece! Here is mine. Being the ultimate MAD Magazine fan, I hauled this to every show that anyone connected to MAD would be at. Took me years. Sadly, MAD is no more and pretty much everybody who worked on it in the "Golden Age" of the magazine are gone.
