There is nothing sexier than a hot hot model

This is my understanding of the problem/situation. I've been posting here on and off for seventeen years and I believe I've posted over a thousand images in that time. This "Hepcat will still be Hepcat" thread is particularly loaded with pictures I've posted:

Up until the change in 2016 I could upload pics from either my hard drive or hot link to other places including my Photobucket account. With the changes that occurred in 2016, getting hot linked pictures to embed became more difficult. The program would get "confused" if you copied and pasted several hot linked pictures at one time. And it didn't like/need the IMG] tags. It would show them. So I adapted. I took the trouble to post images one at a time so that the program would embed them individually.

But there seems to have been a further change for the worse. Yesterday evening the program here wouldn't even consent to embed hot linked pictures individually unless the hot link was to a picture somewhere else on this very forum. Therefore quickly copying and pasting from an external source doesn't work here anymore for even one picture mixed into text. It seems I can only get pictures to embed now by going through the time consuming process of uploading these pictures onto my hard drive first and then using the Attach feature.

And to aggravate me further the Photobucket Search program has stopped working for me. If for example I Search for Green Lantern 10 which is an exact title I've used for a cover scan, I get zero hits! Unbelievable. To get to Green Lantern 10 in my Photobucket Comics album now takes about ten minutes of scrolling time since that album has over 2000 images. Arrrggghhhh!

:frustrated:

So do I. Here are three pictures of my main model kit cabinet from about 2015. (If I can get this damn website to show the pictures that is. It hates to show pictures I'm copying and pasting which is my favourite technique since it's quick and easy.)

This is now the single most difficult forum on which I post for posting pictures. The way it resists copying and pasting is maddening. Here anyway is the cabinet in which I display the model kits that won't fit in the cabinet above:

When I click on your picture links, it opens your images in a new window for me with a modified "address"........I then simply copy the photobucket "address" from that window and paste it into a post......this board then automatically converts it to the picture.

For instance, when I click on the link in your quote above.....it opens your image in a new window for me with the following address:

https:-//i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Balticprince/Halloween%202013%20%20Deuce%20Styx%20Cowboy%20Cake/DSCN3169_zps8efbfe83.jpg

I added a (-) after the (https:) so it wouldn't post as a picture.  But, if you take that (-) out, the forum will automatically post it as your picture in the post.

This made me think back to my early days here....and how someone helped me figure out how to use an image host (Village photos:wink:).

Okay. Now I understand what's going on. For whatever reason the Universal Monster Army site from which I copied the addresses linking to my Photobucket account drops the s from https: and records the addresses as http:. The program here won't embed http: addresses though. So I need to manually add back the s when I'm copying addresses from UMA. Another step but at least I can get this program here to do my bidding.

:highfive:

Oh hi Stu! I see you're up to your old tricks again and you're as engaging as ever.

Has actually contributing to a website you've taken the trouble to join ever crossed your mind though?

???

Let's see if this works:

Hmmmm. No, it seems that the program here can still only handle embedding one picture link when it's given several at a time. Stupid machine.

:p

No.......I noticed the missing "s" earlier as well and played around with that myself.

However, it's also not the number of embedded pictures causing the problem either.....as I was able to embed three of your pictures in this post.

I'm not entirely sure what's causing the issue.....but the only method I can seem to get to work consistently is the method I mentioned earlier.

When I click on your original picture links.....it opens the picture in a new web browser for me.  If I then copy that "address" from the newly opened web browser into a post, the forum software will automatically convert it to the picture in the post.

It's really a bit strange.  You posted the following links.  When I click on each of them.....a new browser pops up with the picture displayed.  If I copy those links from the new browsers (which look EXACTLY like the ones below).....

https://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Balticprince/HepcatMonsterKits.jpg

https://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Balticprince/HepcatAuroraMonsterKits.jpg

......then the pictures show up. (shrug)

Ahhhhh, but I believe you were posting the links one at a time. One at a time the program will embed. But if you copy and paste several picture links at once (as I did above) the program embeds only one picture.

You are correct.  I was posting the links one at a time.  So, just now, I decided to try to post two of the address links at once to see what would happen.

I copied one picture address and pasted it into WordPad.  I then copied a second picture address and pasted it into WordPad below the first one.  I then copied both links together and pasted them into a post.  They both stayed as links and didn't convert into pictures.

UNTIL.......I placed my mouse cursor at the end of each link and hit the enter key.......as I did this, each one automatically converted into the associated picture in the post.

So....again....(shrug)

Thank you for the useful tip! It's a time saver. I'll remember it.

I just tried to Edit my previous posts with links that did not embed with the cursor and Enter technique but it didn't work. I'll experiment later with a fresh post.

:juggle:

Yeah.....I had played around with that too......copying multiple links from one of your old posts and putting them in a new post and pressing the enter key at the end of each one.  That didn't work for me doing it that way either.  Perhaps because the forum had already converted them into clickable links was all I could think of.....but I have no idea.  When I copied several plain text ones from off of the forum and then posted them and hit enter after each one was when it worked for me.

Styx (? - 20 January 2015 R.I.P.) was a street cat who'd been taken to Animal Rescue by a neighbour lady of ours in 2009. I knew though this would be a death sentence for Styx since he wasn't in any way cute or cuddly and nobody would adopt him. I therefore decided that we'd adopt him even though we already had three cats, two of which we'd also taken in off the street in the last two years. But from the very first day we took him home Styx absolutely radiated gratitude for having been taken in and given a forever home. As such he was always very eager to please and therefore absolutely the best photographer's model. His attitude after being picked up and placed somewhere was "Oh? So you want me here now?"

My son found this one under a bush next door as a kitten.  She is sadly dearly departed.
