Senior members need to like and reply to posts they cruise by. If you see something funny, hit like. If someone mentions you, or replies to your post, respond.

thank you for sharing this. I had made this point, and I also apologized that I have contributed to that. It's not a good way to get others involved and I see now how that is a turn off.

this is very true. I remember when I first joined, I asked a question that was quickly slammed by a senior member and another senior member stepped in and pointed out, "he's new here, give him a break".

We need more of that. I'll do my best to step in.

Far too long I've been the one slamming and I need to do better.

thank you for sharing. I agree as stated earlier, I see how those types of comments can be a turn off. We should be more inclusive and not derail topics for the amusement of some.

Mainly because I haven't bought a comic or, really, shopped for any, since February.  So not a whole lot to say.

The love is still with me.  I just can't with these prices.  It's no fun running around a field trying frantically to snatch a few balloons out of the air before they all fly away.

I still read and enjoy my collection, and I need to get back to the '1000 comics' thread.  At one point I made a long-ish post there to catch up and the board ate it.  I got discouraged.

ps. CGC boards are good source of info. Since joining I have acquired some great grails thanks to this boards.

I guess the reason I, myself, don't post more is that when I am typing, I'm not learning something new from someone else that posted something. I kind of equate it to when I'm talking, then I cannot at the same time hear what you are saying, so I'd rather keep quiet and learn. Plus I don't like arguing with people I am not in the same room with - I try to never argue online because it doesn't really accomplish much in my opinion, and only causes anger. Another reason is that I am here during my lunch hour at work, and that time goes way too fast for me to be spending my time typing instead of reading. (But I will try to post more often if I have something worth contributing.)

I have really missed the boards. For years this was my #1 time killer at work. Then covid hit, and we were working from home for a year, which ironically lead to less screen time, rather than more (translation: I didn't have much to do!)

We came back to the office in March, but I was pained to find that the firewalls were suddenly blocking the boards. In the nearly 20 years I've been here, this has happened a couple of times. I'm assuming due to changes behind the scenes, either on CGC's side, or on our firewalls. At any rate, I wasn't able to spend my days on here, and by the time I get home at night, I don't really want to look at a computer anymore. So my posting was pretty much limited to occasional weekend bursts, if I thought I had something cool to share.

Anyway, just now, lo and behold, I was checking the Census, and accidentally clicked on the "Chat" link, and BOOM, I can access the boards again!

Hallelujah!

How long will it last? I have no idea. But I'm happy to see your smilin' avatars again. Now I have several months worth of carp to catch up on. If anyone wants to give me a Cliff's Notes on anything I may have missed since spring, I'd gladly take it!

I agree with the sentiment that everything turns into an inside joke but during some of those back and fourths there is still a lot of good information being shared.

My main reason for not posting a lot is that I just don't have a level of knowledge that would add much substance to any comic related discussion. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the collection I've put together thus far. I like reading and learning more than talking/typing. I'll start trying to contribute more than a few pics and likes going forward.

(Also, a level of tech savvy that is bested by most 6 year olds makes sharing pics of books a daunting task: take pic, email pic to self, download pic to computer, upload pic to forums. I know there's probably a better way.)
