Marvel Studios president of physical and post-production, visual effects, and animation production Victoria Alonso previously confirmed that the studio has 31 projects in development, and it seems that one of them could be the long-rumored Thunderbolts film .

Back in 2015, it was initially rumored that the villainous group would be getting a Netflix series. However, the project didn't pan out, and it took a while before new developments surfaced online.

It was only during Phase 4 that Thunderbolts received a consistent amount of buzz due to the arrival of Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier . During the Disney+ series, Val mysteriously recruited John Walker, and the trend continued in Black Widow 's post-credit scene when she appointed a mission to Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova .

Now, a new rumor may shed some light on the villainous group's imminent arrival to the larger MCU.

Geeks Worldwide shared that Marvel Studios is reportedly producing a Thunderbolts movie, with production slated to begin in 2023.

For those unaware, the Thunderbolts are a group of reformed Marvel villains working together to do something heroic but are actually the Masters of Evil in disguise. Despite being full-blown villains, they eventually redeem themselves to transition into heroes.

Stock up on Hulk 449?

Yeah. Also, Tales of the Marvel Universe #1 is their second appearance and first story I believe. Dollar bin or less fodder that could turn a profit.

Sure, but I think a better ROI might be stocking up on the first appearances of the actual characters you think will make up the MCU team because I don't think the team on screen is going to resemble the one from Hulk 449.

A real world example: the first appearance of the Guardians of the Galaxy in MSH 17 isn't worth nearly as much as the first appearances of the characters who make up the team in the MCU ie Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, etc.

I think it's a good guess that Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is recruiting "heroes" for this team, so John Walker and Yelena Belova might be a good start.

On the other hand, maybe it will really be Marvel's answer to the Suicide Squad and we'll see former MCU villains comprise the team starting with Zemo and Taskmaster.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Deadpool and Venom's MCU futures have since been the subject of intense speculation. Deadpool's R-rated nature and Venom's uniquely rabid tone could present Marvel Studios with some challenges when it comes to incorporating both into the shared universe. Their short-term futures might lie with Deadpool 3 and a Spider-Man crossover for Venom, but that doesn't answer what Marvel will do with them afterward. Now that it appears a Thunderbolts movie is moving along, Marvel Studios might have shown their hand when it comes to fitting Deadpool and Venom into the MCU. They can join the team of villains, anti-heroes, and mercenaries and become permanent fixtures of the MCU ensemble.

Venom and Deadpool's MCU future lying with the Thunderbolts makes sense for both the characters and the universe. There are numerous iterations of the Thunderbolts in the comics, but Deadpool and Venom were teammates for a time. This came when Red Hulk led the team. Flash Thompson was the host for Venom at this time and became known as Agent Venom, and he worked alongside Deadpool, Red Hulk, Punisher, and Elektra. A version of this lineup could now form in the MCU, but the comics aren't the only reason Deadpool and Venom's MCU futures should be with the Thunderbolts. Neither of them are truly villains or candidates to join the Avengers. That puts them in an awkward place for the MCU, but Thunderbolts can easily solve this by bringing multiple Marvel anti-hero characters together.

Hopefully he'll return as himself instead of whoever that was.

Completely agree. Why doesn't Feige just fess up and admit he screwed up. Recast Taskmaster or never refer to it again.

Is anyone else out there disappointed that the post credits scene for Thor was the Hercules reveal? That was so underwhelming and the actor just looks tiny. That plus Hercules sucks.

They should've teased Ares. Especially since we all knew Thunderbolts was coming.
