Although the Creative Arts Emmys aren’t set to be handed out until Sept. 3 and Sept. 4, the Television Academy has already named “Legendary” and “We’re Here” among its winners in the juried categories.

Netflix’s “Arcane” led the way with three wins for individual achievement in animation. Winners in costume, interactive programming and motion design were also handed out.

The winners are screened by a panel of professionals in the appropriate peer groups and chosen via a one-step evaluation and voting procedure. Deliberations include open discussions of each entrant’s work with a thorough review of the merits of awarding the Emmy.

Netflix has finally won Best Animated Program at the Emmys with Arcane picking up the award at the Creative Arts ceremony. It marks the first time that a streaming show has picked up the award.

It beat Bob’s Burgers, Rick and Morty, The Simpsons and Chadwick Boseman-voiced What If…? in the hotly contested category.

Arcane co-creator Christian Linke picked up the award. “Thank you this. It’s a big deal for us as we come from video games. It’s been amazing to see the world embrace our characters and our stories so thanks to Netflix who believed in us from the beginning, thanks to Riot Games, who worked on the whole IP… and to all the people that have been with our game and League of Legends for the last 12 years or so who helped make it as big as it is now,” he said.

The absence of any sort of merchandise for Arcane is just criminal.  No vinyl soundtrack release, not a lot of statues, no artbooks, barely any shirts, and not a single funko!  (There are Funko's for practically EVERYTHING).  So all too happy to add anything Arcane related I can, including this commission sketch cover by Chrissie Zullo of Vi and Gwen (both voiced by Hailee Steinfeld).  Currently on its way to CGC and then to a Hailee signing whenever the next opportunity is.

That's an awesome piece. Very jealous! Also jealous you got a commission spot too.

Based on the latest update about Arcane season 2 from Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent, it sounds like there's going to be a bit of a long wait for the next chapter in the story. In an interview with Bilibilii, Laurent addressed the progress of the hit animated series. Laurent says that, in keeping the quality of the adaptation high, there's a need to take time. The CEO also candidly explains how there wasn't an expectation that Arcane season 1 would become such a success, and how that factors into the delay.

"I just watched the third episode of Season 2, before my flight to China. We’re making progress on it. It’s not ready yet. There are two reasons for that, you want the quality, we just don’t want to rush, and so that takes time, and that’s a good reason. The bad reason is that, honestly, we didn’t know if Season 1 was going to be a success. So we didn’t start Season 2 until after. We didn’t know. And so if I’d known [Arcane was going to be successful], we could have started Season 2 way earlier, but we didn’t know so we kind of waited a bit and so now we’re paying the price.."
