The published cover is cool, but I think it lost a bit after being colored. The OA really showcases how special that art really is. Outstanding.

TEASER Heritage

Most of the time the art after coloring loses something compared to the OCA.  Still nostalgia is more prevalent for the version one first viewed with their own eyes and that is normally the color comic cover.

Excellent choices so far. There a bunch of Great BA covers from the SSOC run. Here are a couple of my favourites:

Savage Sword of Conan 5 - Boris Vallejo

Savage Sword of Conan 9 - Boris Vallejo

Which of these two beauties is your favorite? Can only pick one for this thread(thumbsu

Beautiful choices. The 1st 50 SSOC are such underrated classics with gorgeous painted covers by some of the all time greats.

Another one of my runner ups...

Carmine Infantino classic drawing..

I look at them as posters hanging on the wall

I love this cover. It feels so cinematic! It's probably my favorite Star Wars cover and my favorite Infantino cover.

My selection is the Flash #275 cover by Giordono. It wins by default because I have 3 copies for some reason.

There's so much I love about this cover, especially the use of depth-of-field to achieve story-telling.

If Orson Welles had made super-hero movies, they would have looked like this!

I was wondering if Steranko was going to show up in this thread.

A handful of other big SA guys who were still drawing covers in the Bronze Age have been conspicuously missing so far.

Off the top of my head--Nick Cardy, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, Joe Kubert...

I was expecting Kirby or Kubert to be mentioned.  Nick Cardy’s had some great covers(Supes #279?), but I can’t recall any Ditko 70’s covers that I think that highly of.  I’m a Machine Man fan and I’d take Kirby’s over Mr. Ditko’s covers on that title.

I love Kirby and Ditko as much as anyone, but in the Bronze Age?  Not so much.
