When you are scrounging and saving for a big book (say its a scarce one), how much does page quality affect your decision?

Say you find one with beautiful colors, centering, etc, but it is CR/OW.  Is that a hard pass for you?

Not at all. especially if there are beautiful colors. I buy golden age so good looking copies are scarce regardless.

I just want something that presents itself well in the grade. CR/OW is the least of my worries. Plus, it being in a case, you can't check if the copy you bought due to Off-white-white pages still has that page quality, you have no clue where the previous owner stored theirs.
