I'm very surprised that that didn't grade between 7.5 and 8.5...

I have bumped into stuff like this from time to time. Kids read the heck out of their books until the covers split and detach. They then try to match them up often unsuccessfully. Heck, I’m sure I did it myself…as a kid.

Very troubling to see this happen by a business who’s responsible for preventing this. And, then passing through the hands of probably the largest auctioneer of comic books in the business.

Really shakes my confidence in both businesses.

BAD things going on in our “hobby” these days. Not a good thing for our long term future.

For both CGC and Heritage to miss this is concerning.  How many other 'land mines' are at auction?

I read somewhere that the brother had to buy the early books "used." That's why, supposedly, the Cap #1 is not high grade.

The "Promise Collection' was nothing more than promise they would squeeze a buyer for every last cent by hook or by crook. Blatantly apparent but yet did not seem to bother most.

In the State the auction will be held, it appears any and all fraud perpetrated by an auction house is legal. Thus no expectation the item will be pulled, even if they do its likley book will sold privately to some rube with deep pockets.
