It would be tougher I'd think than any of the Black Mask issues.  But Hammett originally appeared as Peter Collinson in several early issues of Brief Stories.  So hard to say which is scarcest?

Excellent observation...John Gunnison might know best or a few others who have been around for a long time in this field of collecting.

So i am very new to this exciting world of Pulp.. And i saw this thread so I am trying to revive the discussion.. There's also an upcoming auction as well. Anyone this is my first Detective pulp.. pls help a look.. it is not rare or anything though

This is so weird.  It came out the same month as this Laughter (a scarce humor mag/proto girlie pulp from the same publishing house as Paris Nights and American Beauties as well as Brief Stories published by Will Kofoed)

Brief Stories seems pretty scarce considering its long run, 124 issues.  I'd love to see some big images of those covers if anybody has some.

It is the most expensive pulp. Itis not the rarest pulp. There are many copies in collections. [It being the first Tarzan, many copies have been in collections for 90 to 100 years.].

I’m not very familiar with early Blue Books. The early Burroughs ones and a few others yes. What would make this issue interesting to me Is the age. I realize there are probably not a whole lot of them and would grab it for the right price if I ran into it in the wild.

The biggest majority of buyers are looking for covers and writers. The market for this would probably be a LOT smaller. Would be very easy for me to part with if I were to get lucky enough to score one in my travels.

Pulp collectors are looking for the stories. A slabbed pulp with a story from a favored author, a story that cannot be read, or reread, is an expensive. useless geegaw.
