Stan Lee Excelsior Stickers - With and Without Numbers? Are they all real? 0

Apologies if a redundant topic but searched and found a few threads on if the Stan Lee signature is real or not but didn't see one specific to my question on the Stan Lee Excelsior stickers. 

Over the years, I have many items signed in person by Stan Lee which were done before CGC and the Excelsior stickers were an option. I have also purchased items with the Stan Lee Excelsior hologram stickers and notice some have a number and an accompanying certificate of authenticity while others just have a hologram sticker. 

Questions - are both considered legit? Were the ones with numbers and accompanying cert early editions?
