Out of the limited amount of information available in this thread what leads you to believe 1) that Heritage is involved, 2) that the previous 8.0 grade or the now 8.5 grade is unrealistic, and 3) that the book is even going to be offered for sale?

Well, some dudes are in the know, - some aint. Dont take it personal.

The funniest part of the story is that Bechara wasn't the one who benefited from the upgrade!

Not sure if I am remembering this correctly or not, but didn't Bechara already benefited from it decades ago by having it successfully unrestored?  ???

Possibly. I had a lengthy discussion with John Verzyl back in the 90’s about the Superman #1 Mile High? Why? Because John had made a deal with Redbeard to buy every Mile High he owned, including the Superman #1. John didn’t want the book. It was not high grade (by Mile High standards) and was getting very expensive for the times. John was happy when Bechara bought it.

I was told there was something done to the book, perhaps the centerfold. This discussion was 30 years ago so I cannot recall all the details. Perhaps a tear was sealed and was unsealed at some point.

Either way the deals have been done and everyone’s making $. Like Superman, it’s the American way!

The only reason I think it will go up for sale is simply the cost to regrade. I mean assuming the owner did pay the full fee to regrade, and even furthermore if pressed, you're looking at $120K-$150K in pressing/grading fees. I'm sure it's possible the owner has that money to throw away just to get a higher grade, but seems more likely to me you're spending that with the intent to resell.

Or maybe the new owner just wanted to take a shot at an upgrade (shrug)

Ohhh Rick I get it 😉 😉. Think we just learned who the owner is 🙌.

I’d be surprised if you know the owner. Not one of the usually suspects in our hobby.
