Replaced the Flame #8 front cover scan... now higher-res/less grainy. Also please note an update to the description. Thanks for looking!

THE FLAME #8 in 4.0/4.5. Unicorn book -- the toughest of the run, from the toughest period for all Fox Comics (early 1942), in attractive unrestored condition. Beautiful glossy cover, vibrant colors. Staples are recessed but holding; very discreet 1" spine split at top; some mottling to interior cover; a few small bits out of bottom right edge and first page; some very soft rumples to the URC of interior pages. *Update: very small strip of tape on back of spine.* White/OW pages. Other than the Church copy in 2019, no GPA sales of this book in six years.

$2000

It's a theme in lots of comics and TV shows - how many times could someone have just pulled out a gun and shot the superhero?  Even as a kid, that's what bugged me most about the "Batman" show in the 60s - just ridiculously complicated plans to kill Batman, Robin or Batman and Robin.

How about James Bond. I'll let this laser slice you in half while I walk out of the room.

That was part of the intentional silliness of the Batman show. The bad guys could just shoot them, but instead lets feed Batman and Robin to a giant clam.

There was a hole sketch on SNL about this - bunch of bond’s foes talking -“yeah, if you catch him just shoot him”…
