EXCLUSIVE: eOne’s ambitious plans for a Dungeons & Dragons TV universe are starting to take shape with an A-list hire. The indie studio has closed a deal with Red Notice filmmaker Rawson Marshall Thurber to creatively oversee a flagship live-action television series based on Hasbro’s wildly-popular fantasy role-playing game franchise from Wizards of the Coast. Thurber will write and direct the pilot ---script as well as executive produce the hourlong project, which has been garnering interest from multiple buyers.

Adapting Dungeons & Dragons for television has been “a big focus” for eOne following the company’s acquisition by Hasbro, eOne’s President of Global Television Michael Lombardo told Deadline in November.

“We don’t want it to just be one show so we are building out, developing out a multi-pronged approach for television, a number of scripted shows and unscripted, and we hope to be taking this out to the marketplace early next year,” he said back then.

The flagship live-action series, shepherded by Thurber, is expected to serve as a cornerstone of the TV universe as it continues to expand.

The big screen adaptation of the classic role-playing game will be holding a panel in Hall H on Thursday, July 21 at 12 noon; the first in the mega auditorium as the fanboy confab returns in-person after a two year pandemic absence.

In addition the medieval world will be brought to life in a Tavern experience, specifically Quincy’s Tavern, where guests can sip on non-alcoholic Dragon’s brew. Inside, visitors will also get a 20-minute, immersive experience, exclusive takeaways while interacting with their favorite Dungeons & Dragons creatures and characters, plus a few surprise moments. Hopefully no one gets burnt by that dragon fire. Watch out!

Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley co-directed the movie which stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Chloe Coleman, Daisy Head and Hugh Grant.

This is the second big promo blast for Dungeons & Dragons after its teaser reveal at CinemaCon back in April.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves opens on March 3, 2023

Ok, well it for sure looks better than the DnD movie that had the Wayans brother in it, but I'm still undecided.

I agree some things looked cool and other looks a bit wonky. I'm hoping it will.be good.
