Not a chance unless it's a 9.9 or 10.

To each their own, but isn't it much safer to invest in books that's worth money in all grades across the condition spectrum, and even safer if they are still worth money when raw and even if in restored condition as that's the sign of a true vintage collectible comic book?  hm   (thumbsu

Sure, if you have oodles of money.  This particular book is inexpensive to pick up since so many were produced.  Just about anyone could afford it.  And if you have a few bucks, you could buy a dozen.

All you need is a couple of those to get 9.8's, which is a reasonable expectation, and you have recouped more than your investment.

X-Men 1, and others of its class, are probably too low value for some buyers/speculators/investors.  Can't waste the time on it, don't want to buy dozens of something small, in deference to 1 of something substantial.  That's why they make cars that are $25k and those that are $250k.

These comics are like penny stocks.  You won't make a killing on them, but if all goes South, you live to fight another day.

"Was watching Jerry's video today on some 9.8s to grab in 2022 and he mentioned the X-Men 1 comic we all know. He mentioned to grab it now since it is affordable"

Sharing an excerpt from the first post. The view that this book will one day become unaffordable is unlikely. Its not going to become a $500 book. Can you recoup your costs? Sure, but does that make it valuable to collect ?

valuable
adjective
  1. worth a great deal of money.
    "a valuable antique"
noun
  1. a thing that is of great worth, especially a small item of personal property.
"put all your valuables in the hotel safe"

I'm not sure CGC is consistent on the labeling.

My purple web version has the missing color on the knee, but they didn't mention the polybag on the label.

Meanwhile, my gray web version mentions the polybag but doesn't have missing color on the knee...

What I've  been told about newsstand bagged and direct bagged and why it needs to be differentiated

"

That's the NEWSSTAND bagged version, all of which had the grey webs, bagged or not, which is why it's impossible to determine after the book has been taken out of the bag. The DIRECT bagged versions are the purple webs while the DIRECT UNBAGGED versions (aka "the regular #1") are all grey webs. When having this discussion, you need to differentiate between DIRECT and NEWSSTAND copies. All the slabbed copies you posted above are DIRECT copies.

No one knows why they printed them that way, and, to my knowledge, no one at the printer and/or Marvel has ever explained it."
