Popular Post Mmehdy
The Silver Age GIANT book of Amazing Spider man 1-19, Ann #1 and AF 15 arrived at my door via Amazon 20 bucks off with free delivery last night. This in my opinion is greatest SA reprint book every created. It respects the the comic book and is not a hyped up digitalized color enhanced previous Marvel reprints this is the real deal, the size, the feeling is classic. Just looking at those house ads blown up reminds of the days I waited at the newstand. As a 60 year collector, this book respects just than and gets my highest recommendation....there are some great video reviews out there which give you a idea how great really, but until you have it in your hands and see it for yourself.....thumbs wayyy up Edited February 18, 2022 by Mmehdy Dave2739, sledgehammer, Unca Ben and 4 others 6
chrisco37
I’ve heard it’s incredible and was told I should purchase one. Price is pretty steep and I have a different priority currently. Hoping I might be able to pick one up someday.
Dave2739
The comics that were scanned for that volume all came from the personal collection of the fellow that owns the LCS I frequent. The book is already incredibly cool, but it just adds another level of interest for me knowing that I'm looking at my buddy's Spidey collection. They also scanned his early FF's and Avengers so we may have future volumes heading our way if the Spidey volume sells well, which I am suspecting it will. alexanderjk, silverseeker, ThothAmon and 1 other
Aman619
did they have to sacrifice his comics to scan them properly? or just crush the spine a bit? or did he not care because they bought his comics first? just curious about the process.. RickSp
It’s a fantastic product, well worth the pick up in my opinion. They are due to do the same format for FF, Avengers and Cap so that’s some heavy duty book space required! Mmehdy
Mmehdy
I think it will be Avengers 1st, then FF, and then Cap......they are limited to 5K copies editions also.

These are all high-grade GCG graded copies that were carefully cracked, photographed and then CGC re-slabbed them. CGC was involved in the process, from what I understand and no damage was done to the original books. ThothAmon

There is the £150 edition plus a very expensive version with a leather bound cover. (But interiors are the same) grendelbo

Im sure there are apparatus that can scan pages while holding the rest in such a way so as not to damage the spine etc. but, with every page of every copy being identical, dot for dot, line for line. dont know why they needed slabbed high grade copies. But I suppose they'd hate to use cheaper books only to discover a loogie on an interior page and have to get a different copy later. Retouching is good for that. The purpose is to reproduce the comics art etc, and not be the perfect scans of a particular copy. Must be cool for your friend to have a few copies of the book though! Popular Post cbalroman
Heres some pics of the book... The box it shipped in was neat so I kept it....(1st few pics) Last pic has a DC omnibus next to the Taschen to get an idea of size of this thing. It really is massive. drdonaldblake1
Wow! Very nice Apparently the founder of Taschen books collected marvels as a teen and I think the story goes he sold his collection and used the funds to start Taschen books. He would be a multi millionaire now and I believe he is still actively collecting comics ThothAmon, Albert Thurgood, piper and 1 other
Popular Post Mmehdy
The debate on this book is that the Omnibus edition...which currently is about $125 and contains all the Ditko work and currently $112 on Amazon has brighter colors than the Taschen which today is $180.00. He is my take since I own both of them and the prior marvel masterworks editions. The weakest is the oldest, I do prefer the Omnibus over the Masteworks, they are bigger in size as well as brighter color wise. However, the Taschen edition blows away the Omnibus editions because of the much greater size, you really get a feel for the artwork, almost as if you own it yourself and you notice things you never have before story wise, art wise and you really become impressed about how masterful this great comic book was and still is today. Yes, this is not the digital hyped up color future never looked better, because it never looked that way to begin with redo. I think it looks better and more real and puts me back to the time when I would wait for Wed or Friday to see what new great adventures would fill my life for 12 cents. Sometimes real is better than a redo. In sum, This was a very brave and bold move by Taschen and the gamble payed off big time......my highest possible recommendation to fellow board members. Mmehdy
super video, but again you have to see and read this great book in person to really understand how great it is, looking at the pages more blown up gave me additional detail and really brought home how great and amazing these books were. JohnH19
Taschen also corrected the registration on each panel, as required, so that all of the coloring remained within the lines. It truly is a fabulous production. What number did all of you owners receive? My copy is #1075. Mmehdy
davidtere
The book is absolutely gorgeous...everything an (early) Marvel Spidey fan would want. Mmehdy hit it right on the nose with the description. I've been picking up Taschen books for some time now and they outdid themselves with this one. Much past the 2nd editions of any of the titles and my interest may wane, but for now, I plan on getting the next volumes. My copy is # 2,137 Mmehdy
