I recently picked up a Mario Bros #1 CGC 9.6 for $800, I can see the next one listed is at $2,500. My question isn't whether I paid too much or got a deal as I love the book (even though that advice would also help!)  But what I've noticed is that it has an issue on the spine but has somehow got  9.6 when I've seen other get worse and look the same or even better.

Basically my questions are does this look like a 9.6, is it a good buy (price wise) and do things like the staple issue affect the price of the book even against another 9.6 with other flaws instead?

Any feedback is appreciated as this is one of my first graded buys...thanks!

I have some beautiful bronze/modern books that went down to a 9.4 because of deep/too-tight staple punches (occurring at the top staple of your copy here).  I also have a silver age book where the paper finally gave way to the pressure of the staple, and CGC gave it a qualified 9.8 (the top staple had torn through and no longer bound the top).
