@MrBedrock lovely copies :applause: let's link one more on the chain

If any of you haven't taken a look inside of this seminal "Red Scare" book take a look at the spoiler below.  I included some interiors.

To me this is a severely underrated GA funny book.  The great thing is there are lots of copies around (over 84 graded) while it tops out at 9.4 on the census.  Making attractive copies quite affordable.

It's got some crazy stuff going on: Flag Burning Cover, Communists taking over America, lady being choked.  Interior content around Race Wars, Presidential Assassination, Food Shortages in America, Concentration/Work camps in America., and more insane stuff. It's nuts.

Take a look inside...

And so begins our cautionary tale. “The story is sad… the end tragic.”

Is-This-Tomorrow-003.jpg

Communist Jones lays out his diabolical plan: take advantage of the drought that is besieging the country.  Use the crisis as a means to seize power.

Is-This-Tomorrow-006.jpg

First, Communist Jones’ head of propaganda, Brown, gets to work.  He starts by making Americans hate each other’s guts.  He sends moles into various clubs and workplaces to infiltrate and start division and dissension.

Is-This-Tomorrow-00a6.jpg

Brown can rely on Hollywood to corrode American morals.  The respect for life will have to also be squashed.

Is-This-Tomorrow-005.jpg

And, of course, Brown knows he has the media in his back pocket.

Is-This-Tomorrow-010.jpg

Naturally, the workers need to grow to resent the rich capitalists.

Is-This-Tomorrow-011.jpg

And a race war is essential to any Commie takeover.

Is-This-Tomorrow-012.jpg

And so, there is murder in the streets.  White vs. Black, Labor vs. Capitalists,.. the American populace is divided and at each other’s throats.

Is-This-Tomorrow-014.jpg

At last, the time was right for Communist Jones to make his move.  He has found an ally in Washington DC – the Speaker of the House, Collins.

First, he needs to get the president and vice-president out the way.

Is-This-Tomorrow-015.jpg

As “luck” would have it, it has been arranged for the president and vice-president to appear together in a parade.

It would be a shame if anyone threw a grenade at them…

Is-This-Tomorrow-015b.jpg

Is-This-Tomorrow-016.jpg

Of course, this makes Collins the new president.  Communist Jones props him up to be the hero we deserve, beating the drought.

Is-This-Tomorrow-017.jpg

Is-This-Tomorrow-022.jpg

Collins is weak, and easily hands over much of his power to Communist Jones.

Is-This-Tomorrow-023.jpg

Communist Jones gathers the top generals together and has them wasted.  Now there is no one to stand in the way of his plans.

Is-This-Tomorrow-030.jpg

Communist Jones nationalizes everything, and ensures the schools are under his thumb.

Is-This-Tomorrow-032.jpg

Book burning time.

Is-This-Tomorrow-034.jpg

And, finally, it’s time to take our guns and kill the Catholics.

Is-This-Tomorrow-035.jpg

Anyone who doesn’t fall in line is sent to Alaska…

Is-This-Tomorrow-041.jpg

Finally, Communist Jones is delivering his victory toast when this happens…

And illustrated by Charles Schulz.

Anyone see the movie, The Last Days of Stalin? Great comedic take on what happens when a dictator dies and the power struggles that ensue afterwards. It's based on the real story and I read a book that chronicled that; the reality was far darker than the fiction.

Let's see if Mr. Putin survives the next six months.

It is nuts.  A mixture of Catholic social views that I'm not sure they still stick to, anti-labor paranoia, a bit of racism, etc.  But, its of its era.  A great historical artifact!  Today, its confusing because while some of that crazy is still going on, its by different groups for different reasons.  But well worth remembering and seeking out.  I've got a nice copy, and the cover alone makes it worth it.

Interesting how the Australian Commandmants of Citizenship are so different from the U.SofAs.

Yes, I thought so too. Be British and Australia makes it all the way up to #2 while Be American is #10. Australia #6 is interesting.

Because they know that "socialism" is far different than communism.  The U.S. and all western democracies are in the middle ground between unrestrained capitalism and all encompassing communism in which capitalism is regulated to one degree or another (e.g., it becomes a form of a socialist economy).  Getting stuck on the labels just confuses things.  The question is always:  How much regulation is a good idea.  The answer is always NOT "none" or "full."  The irony is that Russia went from a kleptocratic oligarchy pretending to be communist to a kleptocratic oligarchy pretending to be unrestrained capitalism.

One of the first five Marvel Silver Age comics that I read as a young boy.  Nikita Khrushchev even makes a guest appearance. Early Marvels frequently featured subversive Russian spies as villains, including Natasha Romanova aka Black Widow.

The other four were Avengers 2 (Space Phantom), Fantastic Four 8 (Puppet Master), Journey into Mystery 88 (2nd appearance of Loki), and Strange Tales 104 (Paste Pot Pete, before he became the Trapster).
