I'm impressed. Are you show it off? I'm a bit curious as to condition of a mass collection buyer.

I dunno.  If there is interest in seeing it, I'd be interested in sharing it, sure.  But I already feel a little like an egomaniac posting a Gallery of all the CREEPYs 10 mags at a time--especially when they're not all the pretty slabbed NM copies that everyone covets.  So I'd already been debating about posting the EERIEs, being as they are, on average, in even worse condition than the CREEPYs.  From what I can tell of the photos and descriptions, most of the Vampirella run seems to be in better condition than the EERIES but not as good as the CREEPYs, overall.  So there's probably more reason to post them than the EERIEs.

But in either case, I guess the best reason to post them is if people want to see them, so let me know if you want Galleries for the EERIEs and VAMPIs too, or if I should just take my little ragtag collections and shut up while the adults collect professionally endorsed and encapsulated specimens.  'Cause I still feel very much like the newbie in the room here.

I’ve been posting my ragtag collection for years.  More than enough people appreciate them here, and the magazine fans are even more welcoming than some of the other subforums.  We love them all.

Well, after further review, I think I can say that I am one lucky man... because these beaches are :flamethrower:HAWT!!!  :Rocket:

I can't believe they sat there on eeBay for as long as they did, but I guess people who were interested in Vampirellas already had some and didn't want to buy a full run at once--or they were sketched out by not having individual pics of the books maybe.  From the group pics provided, the seller's description of "mostly FN to VF" appeared to be reasonable, so I took a chance and trusted that--and boy, I'm glad I rolled the dice!

I think he seriously undersold a lot of these.  Maybe he just didn't know what he had?  I mean, I thought the CREEPY collection was pretty nice--"mostly FN to VF" anyway--and it is--but man, there are whole runs of this Vampi collection that are literally too nice to read.  I mean, I feel like I could carefully read a 6.0, 7.0, maybe even an 8.0, and not reduce it's value--but there are RUNS of these books that look like they deserve to be slabbed in the low- to mid-9 grades and look pretty for posterity, that's how nice they are.

Now maybe I'm just looking with buyer's eyes--and I don't want to spoil the upcoming Gallery that I'm sure I will create for these masterpieces--but here are a few that I think compare favorably with some of the slabbed copies of the same issues posted in the "Show 'Em Off" thread.

Tell me if I'm delusional.

Wow they are beautiful.  Especially the #3 , they are usually browning . Nearly impossible to get one completely white like that.

The whole collection seems very clean.  Pure colors, white whites mostly.

As always, I value your compliments on anything Warren.  :)

I know, right?  After a while I was kind of regretting handling them all to scan them, they were so nice.

The 11 has a nice front cover, but the back cover has a small crease on the lower left corner and a little more soiling than is typical of the collection--but still probly in VF territory.

:applause: man I love that cover- why there isn’t a vampi 11 club just baffles me...where the Egyptian queen is mesmerizing, this scythe wielding woman matches her step for step in evoking emotion-one of sheer terror

Well looks like you struck gold on this one. How is the rest of the run , the same? They look like they were bought and put away, without even reading them.

If we did a thread for each there would be a hundred threads on it. I'm happy just to keep it located in Wombats Frazetta thread.

That's what I thought.  It looked like they were just delivered from the printer, for the most part.  The #1 isn't nearly as good as the rest; it's probably like a 3.5-4.0, and #89 is by far the worst of the rest of the run, probably clocking in around that grade as well.  The rest are either as pristine as these, or they have 1-2 little flaws like an impacted corner or a small area of scuffing or something that keeps them from being pristine.  But yeah, overall, no tears, rips, pieces out, big creases, nothing major at all.

Ok, I'd been holding off on posting the CREEPY Yearbooks/Annuals to the Gallery, because I was embarrassed of the state of the 1969 Yearbook compared to most of the rest of the collection--but its replacement arrived today, so I got those posted.  Next, I'll post the issues that I've obtained since I first posted the collection--filling the holes, so to speak.  I really wish I could go back and insert those issues into the gallery where they belong, instead of having to tack them on at the end; seems tacky to me.  Maybe I'll stay up all night some night and delete the existing gallery so that I can create it again with every issue in its place.  But that will be after I obtain #10, #29 and #44, so that I can post them ALL in order.

On a side note, it's really kind of "eerie" how the three runs are so distinct in terms of overall quality--and almost exactly evenly spaced in terms of values.  The EERIE collection is the "Po' Boy" collection; counting the #23 that left Belgium on my birthday (but not counting #1, because I'll never have #1), each EERIE book cost exactly $8.40, on average.

The "CREEPY Collection for the Rest of Us" is the mid-range collection; not counting #1 (because the slabbed #1 artificially inflates the average values), as each book cost exactly $16.49, on average.

And then there are the Vampirellas, the Lottery Ticket Collection.  Again, not counting #1 (for the same reason, even if this one isn't slabbed), each Vampirella cost exactly $24.11, on average--and boy, do they look like the Cadillacs of the group.  Like those lucky lottery tickets, I definitely feel like I got more than I paid for in return.

Just because that triple-tier of quality is so interesting in and of itself, I think I'm going to make Galleries for the Po' Boy EERIEs and the Lottery Ticket VAMPIs alongside the CREEPYs for the Rest of Us as well, for informational, educational, and comparative purposes.

So I'll ask those who visit my little thread here:  Which do you want to see first?
