:whatthe:

The star. Wars 1 price variant of the copper age, except much rarer and with a real first appearance.

How is Star Wars #1 not a real first appearance? 1st comics app and it was on-sale prior to the film's release. Seem as "real" as any fictional characters first app to me.

At least with SW1 you can see the difference in the slab, for Sandman 1 isn't it sort of hoping it wasn't a label error? Rare but those things do happen.

It is THE Gaiman Sandman book to own and has been in demand for decades. What does surprise me very much is it was very light (4 total) biding.

Flew completely under the radar for me, otherwise there'd have been at least one more bid to the tally. I may not have been the only interested one who just whiffed on the whole event

Lol How many other copper age books sell for five figure in a 9.8?  Bone, crow, turtles and rabbit, anything else ?

-J.

Thorn: Tales From The Lantern (1983) had an 8.5 sell for over 11k in August 2021. The 9.8 that sold for 13.2k in 2020 had offers up to $45k that were all rejected. According to the census, their are zero 9.8s at the moment so the buyer may have cracked it out of the slab.

I was going to ask if you still have your copy. Wasn’t that a relatively cheap find too? Still have my 9.4 SS Gaiman

Yep, still have it.
Found it on a family trip to LA while checking out the local shops.
They knew what it was but still priced it below FMV at the time.

And has the lowest print run of all of them.

TMNT #3 variant might be lower than Sandman #8 Editorial variant.  CGC 9.8 of TMNT #3 variant recently hit five figures.

My copy was owned by someone named "Mark" who decided to sell his collection for his 50th birthday.  (shrug)
