I've kept it raw. Bought it from Harley about ten years ago. It is probably a 7.0/7.5 due to a tear on the back of the spine, but it has bone white paper - very unusual for PL 17.

The high grade copies have pink pages as seen in the Promise Collection pedigree.

Post WWII Fox books were printed atrociously.  In some cases, printing defects are the cause of "scuffs".

Perhaps a roller on the press or something that scuffed up all the books in the same spot?  Since we're on the subject of PL I've often wondered what caused the tire tread marks you see so often on PL16 on her knees as well, even on some high grade copies.  Was that some tire like roller on the assembly line or printing press?
