And the 6.0 Action Comics #1 sold at auction for only $70,000 less than the 8.5 sold for.

Yes, bit shocking plus the Superman 1 has slight color touch per Cgc's Blue label. Bottom line: Edgar Church white page ^^ freshness reigns supreme.

Sort of off-topic but sort of on the topic....I put together a list of all the "six figure" books that sold since this boom started in 2020.   I will apologize in advance to the Gold collectors if I have left GA titles off the list.   As someone said above - not sure the pecking order has changed much - just more commas and zeros.

Thanks for compiling the list.  The information shows me that ASM 1 in top grade is incredibly undervalued in comparison to its peers.

It's sales like this and the CGC 9.6 Amazing Fantasy 15 that makes me wonder why the CGC 9.0 Action #1 didn't sell for higher than it did. I realize it was 8 years ago and it was a record price at the time, but that sale should have blown all previous records out of the water by a higher margin.

It did.

Exactly.

It's an anomaly compared to everything else.

There are people whose entire professional lives are based on finding pricing for anomaly things, so I think this isn't too far out of the realm of possibility.

Not a first appearance, not a great cover, not a classic issue.    It’s #1, sure, and gets a good price for that reason but it has some warts too (when compared to other books at that price level).

I really, really, really don’t want to have to go through the explanations again so yes, I will concede it’s not his first appearance nor is it a great cover.

HOWEVER, ASM 1 contains many firsts, and it’s also the number 1 issue of the most collected series in the history of comics.  It is certainly superior to, and should be worth more than several key books currently ahead of it.

I'm not seeing it.   The marvels that are ahead of it are first appearances, earlier books, or both.

For it to be "incredibly undervalued" (your words), it should be leaping off the page.    Yet when I look at that list there are almost no marvels in 9.4 that are priced as high.

Like I said, I don’t really want to explain it.  I’m done with this subject.

Its okay, I really wouldn't accept your explanation anyways :kidaround:

If ASM1 is the #1 to the most collected title on the planet (your words) its highly unlikely that its incredibly undervalued.    Which is it?   Overlooked and undervalued or most collected?   Because those are pretty close to being binary options.

I miss the old days when the line between good and evil was clear and you could challenge someone to a meeting at Phil's parking lot without a strike. lol

I've been spending a lot of time in your old hood, BTW. VP + L , right?
