November 2020, two pages from Amazing Spider-Man Annual 16 sold on Heritage for $2800 apiece. 
April 2022, a page from the same book sold  on eBay for over $11,000

I remember when they were cheaper than that and I had the opportunity to get a couple and was told by a dealer that no one wanted pages from annuals.

So, those two ASM Ann 16 pages were my consignments in the Nov 2020 HA auction. 

I was anticipating Monica's appearance in the Captain Marvel movie would have increased the value of the pages, and it did...I was just a bit ahead of the curve regarding timing.

1st appearance mania has definitely ramped up OA prices.

For fun, I’d also like to remind friends here I was destroyed on virtually every forum when I purchased the Ultimate Fallout 4 cover with Dinesh. Turned out alright, I think.

Most people have two things. An opinion and the other thing I can’t mention without being banned. At the end of the day, the opinions should make no impact on your love for the art and what it represents to you.

Nope. Doesn’t bother me at all. My art purchases are calculated and strategic. 

The original poster wasn’t privy to two other sales at $10k and $12k this last year.

What the heck does Nostradamus know anyways? Now that I know you got it I'm pleased. I get it. Things cost what they cost right now. It's still whiplash inducing witnessing some of the flips we've been seeing of late. Though I speculate and goof on some of the ambitious sellers out there. I am the first to understand that if you own it, you can sell it for whatever price you can get. Enjoy the page Xatari and don't mind the drive by musings.

Oh no harm at all. I truly don’t mind. Since collectors don’t often share their thought process, I’ll explain for casual onlookers or new friends in the hobby. 

Personally I think Feige and Co are setting Monica up for an expanded role. She’s in the upcoming Dr Strange and The Marvels movies. While I don’t collect art on what is going on in the MCU solely, I do consider the ramifications of how pop culture affects overall value.

Obviously the two examples of other sold pages above are much lower in price. This was also prior to Monica’s involvement in WandaVision and confirmation of two more full feature films. 

ASM Annual 16 also happens to be one of the first comics I ever owned. I was always drawn by the cover, so I am happy to have the opportunity to grab this one. Romita Jr and Sr on the same book is a cherry on top. Annuals may not have been highly sought after in previous years, so please send all ASM Annual 16 and X-Men Annual 14 pages my way.

Lastly, I have two daughters who come from a diverse family background. Strong, diverse, female characters are important to me for this reason as well. When I explain my art pieces to my girls, it is important to me that they see characters from many different backgrounds. 

That’s a lot of info, but I always enjoy when a collector shares why they purchased a particular piece. No hedge fund or cabal here, just a big art fan.
