Using Scantily Women To Sell Comics

My suspicion is that a cute girl holding it up or standing in front of it, has never, actually, sold a product that the guy wasn’t going to buy anyway, but guys (and some gals too) still advertise with them ‘cause, well, guys.

Maybe they drew the guy’s eyeballs to the product which wouldn’t have been drawn that way before.  Maybe.

I did that quite often in my sales threads. Whether it worked or not, who knows. Tasteless? Probably. But I had fun creating the graphics that I thought were funny - at least to me - and that's how I rolled.

When’s the next sales thread?

How is Big Sky Country?

I have recently noticed a slight trend on IG. I have seen sellers use women who are showing much of their "assets" as a method to sell books.

Look, I'm no prude. However, if I was a female collector, I would find this strategy to be offensive. If sellers used sculpted men in Speedo swimming trunks to sell comics, I would feel the same way. Again, I'm no prude. However, I don't think it's appropriate to use a person's sexuality to sell comics. With some other products, it's a fine line, but sexuality and comics just aren't related. Yes, this is despite the fact that many artists draw anatomically impossible women.

Do you agree with this method of selling comics? I would like to hear your thoughts.

Here are some recent examples:

Imagine thinking that the woman in the third pic is scantily-clad.

OP doesn’t like it when women sell comics, I guess. (“I’m no prude,” he says.)

I can see her entire shoulder. Shameless.
