Got graded at a 9.0.  Grader notes state “bend right top of front cover through book”

I guess they missed the crease on the back cover

Hello there. I am planning on submitting my gold foil WildC.A.T.S. #1 for the upcoming Jim Lee and Scott Williams signing. Unfortunately, it does have a crease on the top back corner of the cover. I am assuming this will keep the book out of the 9’s. However, I have no experience or reference for grading books and would like to know if I can expect the book to be in the 8’s, 7’s or lower. I would also like to hear on what I can expect for page color as well.

I have successfully pressed out the bends on the corners of the interior pages.  I just haven’t taken new pictures.  Thanks for all the help!

I have pressed the outside corners with some C clamps and no heat. It has made an improvement but obviously the color breaking can’t be fixed. However, the corner is flattening out quite well. A traditional pressing with heat press seems out of the question with the cover being embossed foil.

How did you get this book ?  I have a regular one from the 80's when the series started.....Is that when this came out ?  Just a rare cover that cost more or is this some new relaunch issue ?

The issue came out in late 92 at the same time the series started. I’m not sure exactly when I picked this issue up. It has to have been at least 25 years ago. I was around 11 or 12 when the series started and Jim Lee’s Wildcats was my favorite.  I’ll be sending this book, a already graded 9.8 of issue 1, and a chromium cover of issue 50 for the upcoming Lee and Williams signing.

9.0/9.2 maybe.

Thanks for posting.

I would be elated with a grade in the 9’s. Considering the crease in the back I’d really like to keep things at an 8 or higher.
