Are these worth grading. My son collected a ton of them when he was little. A lot of the cards are in Japanese.

Depends on the card and the grade, and your personal subjective financial definitions of “worth it”.  
 

you can try to run some graded vs. non-graded price comparisons using eBay sold values.

but figuring it out is gonna might actually be time-consuming and also might prove to be not “worth it”.  
 

but as with any business decisions, big or small, the more time you spend preparing and learning the better the chance at maximizing your returns
